New Afton Mine
Situated 10 kilometers west of Kamloops, British Columbia, the New Afton Mine is an underground gold and copper producing site.
Kamloops is a city of 90,000 people, located 350 kilometers east of Vancouver. Position Reports To: Project Lead
Position Overview
The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, including contractors, consultants, technical services, and mining operations, to ensure successful project delivery while adhering to safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will be assigned to sustaining and/or non-sustaining capital projects as required by business needs. Projects may include site operational and maintenance improvement projects, tailings stabilization, and/or underground infrastructure projects.

Compensation
The anticipated salary for this position will be between $85,000 to $110,000. A comprehensive benefits program and performance bonus plan will also be provided. This is not a camp operation and therefore the successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Kamloops area or travel and accommodation will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will be assigned to sustaining and/or non-sustaining capital projects as required by business needs. Working Conditions
- Split time between office and field (driving and walking)
- Minimal/occasional lifting required (typically less than 10kgs)
- Team environment, with regularly scheduled and ad-hoc meetings
Key Responsibilities
- Develop project plans and schedules, and monitor progress (e.g. earned-value) against these plans
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and other departments to ensure successful project delivery
- Monitor and manage contractor and consultant performance, review proposals, and ensure quality control and safety compliance
- Develop project budgets and provide monthly forecast updates
- Manage project documentation, ensuring all relevant information is accurately recorded and reported
- Prepare and review technical reports, project documentation, and progress reports
- Conduct evaluations to identify potential risks and opportunities, and provide recommendations for mitigation and improvement
- Coordinate and oversee project activities, including performing field inspections
- Preparation and evaluation of design and construction request for proposal (RFP) packages
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Mining or Geological Engineering with Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation or eligible for registration as P.Eng. Registered EITs may be considered.
- Or Applied Science Technologist with 5 + years' Technical project management experience
- 3-5 years project management experience, with a demonstrated ability to successfully deliver projects
- Experience in project development from scoping through commissioning
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance
- Experience with development of and responses to engineering and construction RFP
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address issues in a timely and effective manner
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and adapt to changing priorities
- Experience in underground and/or surface mining, tailings, civil construction, and mill processing an asset
- Project management professional (PMP) designation an asset
Other Requirements
Candidates will be required to participate in a comprehensive qualification process, including:
- Completion of pre-placement functional screen
- Provide proof of a valid Class 5 driver's license
- Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada
- Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements
