About Thompson Creek Mine
The Thompson Creek Mine is a primary, surface molybdenum mine and mill located approximately 48 kilometers southwest of the town of Challis in Idaho's Custer County.
In operations since 1983, the mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods with large electric-powered shovels that can each move up to 100,000 tons of waste rock and ore per day.
Thompson Creek Mine promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.
About The Opportunity
We are looking for an Planner-Scheduler, Mine Maintenance t o join our Thompson Creek team. The Mine Maintenance Planner & Scheduler will be responsible for planning and coordinating labor, equipment, tools, drawings, and material requirements for maintenance jobs, including outages, shutdowns and preventative maintenance, to ensure cost effective, timely and safe completion.
Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Reviews maintenance job orders and work priorities. Studies production and operation schedules and confers with other maintenance and production supervisors to determine when planned maintenance will least interfere with operational requirements. Ensures availability of spare parts, materials and labor when required.
- Reviews manufacturers' service manuals, Company usage schedules, and records of maintenance problems to determine optimum frequency of preventive maintenance work.
- Suggests ways to improve equipment performance, reliability, and availability.
- Estimates and monitors costs associated with maintenance projects and reports variances and irregularities to management.
- Prepares and maintains plans, schedules, lists, requisitions, drawings, reports, logs, and other maintenance related documents.
- Assists management in development, preparation and status of departmental budgets and forecasts.
- Works with vendors to provide low-cost solutions to projects.
- Monitors work in progress and advises management of work order backlog.
- Writes specifications for equipment, new and rebuilt.
- Monitors warehouse items to be sure quantities on hand are adequate and, as equipment becomes obsolescent or acquired, the proper spare parts are deleted or added.
- Other duties as assigned.
To qualify, the following skills and experiences are required :
- Must possess excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication (written and oral) and organizational skills and be knowledgeable of and proficient in related computer applications.
- Must have ability to prioritize assignments and make well-rounded timely decisions.
- Must have excellent analytical and interpersonal skills and ability to stay focused on task.
- Must be detail and customer service oriented. Must possess computer related skills and knowledge of related programs and systems. Detailed knowledge of spare parts and mining supplies desirable.
- Must have 3-5 years of previous maintenance experience.
- High School diploma & 2-3 years of related planning-scheduling experience.
