JOB POSTING : MINE PLANNING SUPERINTENDENT DEPARTMENT : MINE PLANNING AND TECHNICAL STRATUM OF ROLE : II H EMPLOYMENT STATUS : PERMANENT CLOSING DATE : 6TH NOVEMBER, 2024

ROLE PURPOSE

The purpose of the Mine Planning Superintendent role is to give confidence in the Mining Plan by reviewing and interrogating existing data from the life of mine process and produce realistic designs that enable plans and schedules to be produced at the required standard for short-term planning and production systems.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Act on all corrective actions assigned to you or under your jurisdiction and ensure timely completion.
  • Assess risks for all tasks and ensure they are controlled before and during task execution.
  • Report all incidents and ensure they have been investigated and corrective actions completed on time.
  • Investigate all environmental incidents in assigned work areas and prepare reports with recommendations for the
  • Departmental Manager for onward submission to the Environmental Manager or his representative.
  • Define mine planning activities and schedules for tracking of mining operations readiness tasks.
  • Generate a 12 month mine schedule with respect to geotechnically re-sequenced stopes to include diamond drilling activities.
  • Develop the mine planning MOS to integrate the general MTS workflow.
  • Generate an optimised and feasible Annual schedule with sufficient details (rates, resourcing, budgets, etc.) to ensure confidence in delivery.
  • Integration of diamond drilling activities in Annual schedules
  • Generate the mine annual reserves inventory and related reports as a Competent Person
  • Develop quarterly, rolling forecast plans with sufficient details for implementation by the mining contractor.
  • Provide the resources and expertise to develop the team to deliver the annual budget capably and consistently, according to their role and level of authority.
  • Develop and maintain constructive relationships with Internal Stakeholders (Corporate, Group Planning & Technical, sister mines, etc.) and external Stakeholders (Regulatory Agencies and Authorities, Minerals Commission) to establish existing and changing societal and regulatory expectations and requirements.


QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

Qualification
  • Bachelor's degree in mining engineering
  • A post Degree would be considered a strong asset.


Experience
  • A minimum of five (5) years' proven experience in long-term mine planning in an underground mining environment of which at least three (3) years at senior supervisory level within a planning/technical department.


Technical Competencies
  • Must be physically fit and be able to pass pre-employment and medical examinations / screening.
  • Must be Proficient with Mine Planning Software; demonstrated experience in the use of Datamine studio UG and EPS will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of a variety of mining methods applicable to the site.
  • Excellent Communication Skills
  • Must possess a Blasting Certificate of Competency
  • Must possess Mine Rescue certificate of Competency.
  • Must possess Shift boss certificate of Competency.


Other Competencies

  • Ability to engage with all different disciplines throughout various levels of the workforce including management.
  • Demonstrated capability to interpret data and successfully action sound long-term tactical decisions
  • Must understand AGA project management standards and apply them in a minor project to conceptual level.
  • Must think creatively to develop multiple, workable options.
  • Ability to generate innovative solutions, which continuously improve the performance of existing assets, products, services, or processes
