About the role

The Superintendent Finance is responsible to lead the Red Lake Operations (RLO) management accounting function, ensuring timely and accurate financial information is provided to department managers to support effective management decisions. The role is responsible for leading initiatives that continuously improve onsite reporting processes and implementing effective cost control solutions/practices to optimize mine cash flow.

Additionally, this role will be accountable for timely and accurate administration of the site planning cycles (Budget and Forecast), and sales and marketing activity targeting optimization of net realized value from sales of excess concentrate production.

Other responsibilities will include leading a Shared Services function to support the North American region, including, timeliness and accuracy of AP/AR, Payroll, and basic Treasury functions.

Key result areas in this role include:
  • Oversight of month end close activities and provision of accurate and timely financial submissions.
  • Preparation of monthly performance reporting and regular liaison with business units to ensure full understanding of business performance information and financial results.
  • Facilitate the compilation of information to support external and internal audit requirements.
  • Maintain systems and frameworks to deliver the annual Budget, periodic forecasts and LOM plans, including the provision of timely and insightful analysis to key stakeholders.
  • Support the operations planning teams with scenario analysis and assessment.
  • Preparation of the RLO and North American cash flow forecast including analysis of site funding requirements.
  • Supervise the Shared Services functions with a focus on timely and accurate process and reporting.
  • Review and analyze business processes, re-engineer as necessary to improve efficiency, effectiveness and/or usability.
  • Guide direct reports on role expectations and performance indicators
  • Ensure team members are trained and informed for safe, efficient job performance
  • Foster professional development and uphold safety and security standards


About you

As the Superintendent Finance, you will have a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field with CA/CPA qualification, previous experience within heavy industry sector and a track record of leading high performing teams.

It is also important that you have/can demonstrate:
  • CA/CPA qualified
  • Proven track record as a Commercial/Finance Superintendent or equivalent.
  • 5-10 years Commercial experience
  • Experience in a heavy industry sector is essential, ideally mining.
  • Strong numerical and analytical mindset
  • Quality, continuous improvement and pro-active planning capabilities.
  • Ability to disseminate complex technical issues to engage in clear and concise communication with key stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Collaborative team mindset

Company

 The operation comprises the Red Lake, Campbell and Cochenour mines over a strike length of 7km. The Cochenour mine is connected to Red Lake by a 5km haulage drift, with ore processed at the Campbell Mill.

Red Lake is accessible by major highways, with commercial air services to the mine from Thunder Bay and Winnipeg. Red Lake is supported by an experienced and highly-skilled workforce largely residing in adjacent towns of Red Lake and Balmertown and benefits from strong community partnerships with Lac Seul and Wabauskang First Nation Groups.

Mining at Red Lake is undertaken predominantly via long-hole stoping. Processing at the Campbell mill is via conventional crushing and grinding followed by gravity concentration to recover free-milling gold, with refractory gold recovered by floatation followed by pressure oxidation, neutralisation and CIL.
