Position Overview:
The Senior Mine Planning Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing detailed mine plans STP/LTP and schedules to ensure efficient and effective mining operations. This role involves integrating geological, geotechnical, and operational data to optimize resource extraction while ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and cost-effectiveness.

The Senior Mine Planning Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing detailed mine plans STP/LTP and schedules to ensure efficient and effective mining operations. This role involves integrating geological, geotechnical, and operational data to optimize resource extraction while ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and refine short-term and long-term mine plans to maximize resource extraction and profitability.
- Create detailed production schedules and coordinate with operations teams to ensure adherence, providing timely feedback to achieve Mine Plan Budget.
- Utilize advanced mine planning software to model and analyze mining scenarios and outcomes.
- Complete Mine Facilities Designs as pushbacks, Dumps, Leach pads, stockpiles, roads, mine projects.
- Analyze geological, geotechnical, and production data to inform planning decisions and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Evaluate resource models and update as necessary to reflect new data and changing conditions.
- Implement and recommend process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and reduce costs.
- Optimize pit designs, drill and blast plans, and material handling processes to achieve production targets.
- Lead and coordinate mine planning projects, including the development of project timelines and resource allocation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and integration of plans with broader operational goals.
- Ensure mine plans comply with regulatory requirements, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
- Conduct risk assessments and incorporate safety and environmental considerations into planning and design.
- Responsible for executing, supporting, and enforcing the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety program as required by OIS policy, directives, and principles.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on mine planning progress, performance, and forecasts to senior management and stakeholders.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to mine planning and production.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and mine planning staff.
- Support the development of training materials and programs to enhance team skills and knowledge.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Skills:
- Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Minesight, Whittle, Vulcan).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Certifications: Professional Engineering license or similar certification is preferred.
- Additional Requirements: Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards; experience in underground or open-pit is an advantage.
• Fluency in both Spanish and English preferred.
Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in mine planning, with a proven track record of successful project management and optimization in a mining environment.
Working Conditions:
- Ray Operation site office-based with mine facilities frequently site visits.
- Potential for long hours and irregular shifts depending on project requirements.
