We are seeking an experienced Commercial Principal to join our clients Surface Mining East team.
Based in their Brisbane office, this is a Monday to Friday role with occasional travel to site required to stay closely connected to project operations and support key stakeholders across their east coast mining contracts.
This is a pivotal commercial role responsible for delivering commercial analysis, claims management, financial support and contract performance insights that maximise productivity and profitability across multiple operations.

About the Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager - East, you will work closely with project and site leadership teams to provide critical commercial support across east coast mining contracts.
Your key responsibilities will include
- Pulling together and managing claims for smaller projects and contract variations
- Liaising directly with clients regarding claims, commercial submissions and outstanding commercial matters
- Conducting detailed commercial and financial analysis across east coast mining contracts
- Assisting with monthly reporting, review packs and financial performance analysis
- Supporting budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes
- Building and maintaining accurate claim and commercial models
- Providing commercial input into tenders and scope increases
- Analysing contractual performance and identifying commercial improvement opportunities
- Delivering financial insights and KPI analysis to support project decision-making
- Supporting continuous improvement through reporting and data-driven analysis
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Accounting or related discipline (or equivalent industry experience)
- Strong commercial experience within mining, resources, construction or heavy industry
- Proven experience managing contract claims and client-facing commercial discussions
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret and assess contract performance
- Sound financial and accounting process knowledge
- Contract interpretation and negotiation capability
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Current Australian C Class Driver's Licence
- Experience analysing mining services contracts
- Power BI capability
- SAP or similar ERP experience
- Knowledge of mining equipment commercial models
