Construction Engineer - Underground Mine

About the role

Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, the person in this role is responsible for planning, designing, and executing construction projects aimed at developing and improving underground mining infrastructure. He/she also conducts field monitoring and coordinates construction activities.

Essential Duties
  • Design, review, and approve detailed construction plans in compliance with safety standards and applicable regulations
  • Coordinate and monitor the progress of all phases of construction projects:
  • Planning and scheduling
  • Compliance reporting
  • Resource allocation
  • Cost management
  • Conduct field visits to ensure quality control of construction work
  • Establish construction project budgets, monitor them, and provide cost forecasts
  • Manage tenders and material procurement for construction projects
  • Comply with, understand, and promote company policies and regulations, particularly regarding health and safety
  • Perform any other related duties within the scope of the position


Training & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Engineering
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience in construction project management, preferably in underground environments
  • Mining modules 1 to 5 and 7
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
  • Valid general explosives permit
  • Good computer skills - Microsoft Office suite and Deswik (an asset)
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset

Working Conditions
  • Eleonore mine site (fly-in, fly-out from Montreal, Chibougamau, Matagami, Rouyn-Noranda, Val D'Or and Wemindji)
  • Schedule: 8 days on, followed by 6 days off
