About This Role

The role will work closely with Mining and other functional departments to understand cost drivers, monitor financial performance, identify trends and variances, and support initiatives that improve cost control, operational efficiency and business performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain mining cost and financial models, providing accurate analysis and information to support operational and strategic decision-making.
- Prepare financial models and forecasts to support short, medium and long-term business, operational and strategic planning.
- Develop and maintain Life of Mine (LOM) financial models to support mineral reserve and resource reporting, long-term mine planning and strategic business decisions.
- Conduct detailed cost analysis, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis to ensure effective cost management and adherence to approved budgets.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships and effective communication channels with Mining and other relevant departments to facilitate the timely exchange of accurate financial and operational information.
- Monitor, analyze and report on key cost drivers, trends and performance indicators, providing actionable insights and recommendations to management.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Ghanaian tax legislation through the accurate interpretation and application of tax regulations in business transactions.
- Collaborate with departmental leaders to review, monitor and control operational and departmental expenditures, promoting cost efficiency and financial discipline.
- Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality and integrity in the handling of financial, commercial and business information.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timely validation of cost data and financial transactions prior to period-end close processes.
- Lead, coach, mentor and develop team members to enhance capability, support performance improvement and contribute to succession planning initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, governance frameworks, internal controls and regulatory requirements, including COSO principles and other relevant legislation.
- Set clear performance objectives and expectations for team members, and continuously monitor, evaluate and manage individual and team performance to ensure the achievement of departmental goals.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing financial controls, reporting accuracy, process efficiency and overall business performance.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Education, Work Experience & Key Competencies
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline from a recognized tertiary institution.
- ACCA, ICA, CIMA or CPA part qualification is desirable
- A postgraduate qualification in Project Management, Finance, Business Administration or a related field will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of ten (10) years relevant experience in Accounting and Finance with at least five (5) years in a similar financial planning, cost management or business partnering role within the mining industry.
- Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, cost control, financial analysis and management reporting within a complex operational environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders across diverse cultural backgrounds and organizational levels.
- Excellent interpersonal, planning and organizational skills with a proven ability to build collaborative working relationships and operate effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with experience in the use of computerized financial and accounting systems, preferably PRONTO ERP or a similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word with practical experience using Power BI and other business intelligence and analytical tools.
- Results-oriented with a hands-on approach and the flexibility to meet demanding operational and reporting deadlines when required.
- Medically fit to perform the requirements of the role and work within a mining operational environment.
- Must possess a valid driver's licence and be capable of operating a company vehicle where required
