Position Description

Kibali Gold Mine is seeking to recruit Jumbo Operators to join and grow our team.

The key duties are to operate Jumbo Drill Rigs for mine development and install ground support according to quality specifications safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

• To comply with health, safety and environmental standards as per company requirements.
  
• Ensure the safe achievement of underground development and production targets.
  
• Assess work areas, ground conditions and equipment and ensure that safety requirements are met, and any unsafe conditions are reported and corrected.
  
• Optimize drill patterns to ensure that maximum advance per round is achieved whilst maintaining strict adherence to design specifications with minimal over break.
  
• Minimize secondary breakage and overbreak by correct installation of ground support systems in accordance with the geotechnical plan.
  
• Achieve a full advance of a minimum of 3.5 m per cut.
  
• Mark up faces in accordance with geological, statutory, and survey specifications.
  
• Installation of all ground support, such as mesh and split sets, and bore cable bolt holes.
  
• Installation of mine services when required.
  
• Work with technical and supervisory staff in quality and safety initiatives.
  
• Ensure end of shift reports are up to date.
  
• Training and development of trainee underground operators.
  
• Work in compliance with ISO 14001 and 45001 Standards.
  

Qualification Requirements:

• Minimum of secondary or tertiary level education
  

Experience and Skills Requirements:

• 10 years' experience in underground mining with a minimum of 5 years' experience as a Jumbo Operator.
  
• Detailed knowledge of the operation of large multi-boom Jumbo Drill Rigs.
  
• Ability to read and understand detailed survey prints and layouts.
  
• Ability to read and understand designed ground support plans.
  
• Able to report breakdowns according to the specifications on the Jumbo.
  
• Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge of Jumbo Drill Rigs.
  
• Experience with Sandvik Jumbos (DD-422i).
  
• First Aid Certificate will be an advantage.
  
• Driver's License.
  
• Demonstrated ability work within systems and a work-culture that ensures compliance to safe work procedures and quality work standards.
  
• Strong interpersonal and training skills with an uncompromising safety ethic and a focus on quality first.
