MANAGER, MINE TECHNICAL SERVICES

Position Summary :

In-charge of geology, grade control, mine long and short term production planning, mine optimisation and scheduling, and blending, dilution control. Role also in-charge of process engineering for the ore preparation plant (OPP), sampling and material balance. Also in-charge of geotechnical and hydrology of pits and 6 x water/sediment containment dams, including monitoring and control of associated TARPs. Responsible for the weekly, monthly and 52-week plan for all mine activities, in coordination with Nickel/Cobalt Plant at Toamasina. In-charge of reconciliation of weekly plans at mine, plant, and respective RCAs (root cause) for deviations. In-charge of Budgeting, 5 YR Plan, Life of Mine Plan. Has within his/her team, the professional signing as Competent Person for Mineral Resources and Ore Reserves, and issuing the 43-101/JORC reports. Key coordination and consolidation of weekly and monthly reporting for mine & ore preparation plant activities.

This role reports to the Mine Senior Manager, and is one of the 2ICs to the Mine Senior Manager. Ideal candidate has engineering background with min 15yrs experience in operations & technical areas, with previous roles managing technical services in base metal open pit operations, Africa preferred. Previous exposure working for Tier #1 companies, including Competent Person and 43-101/JORC reporting. English mandatory, French preferred.

1. Site Description
   • Minesite totals 15mtpa total movement, 6Mpta ore preparation plant (crush/sizer, scrubber, screening) and a 220km pipeline to port
   • 2000+ people, running a mine fleet of circa 80 mobile equipment (8 primary excavators, 50 trucks + ancillary)
   • Mobile maintenance and ore preparation plant shops
   • 6 run off collection/water dams, some relatively large in size
   • 30MW diesel power plant, self-managed MAN engines
   • Several capex and opex projects ongoing including maintenance of dams, reviewing drainages, chutes, belts, expanding/improving camps, kitchen, general facilities.
   • Ambatovy have a large conservation program with 18,000ha of protected area, and a large rehabilitation program of mined areas, totaling 25ha/year
   • Large CSR/ESG program including protection for fauna and flora
   • There are reasonable sized community programs in the areas of the company's influence
   • Operation runs as a FIFO camp, with critical mine operational roles located in-camp, balanced by workers from local villages and Antananarivo

Position Specific Accountabilities

1. Technical leadership:
   1. Introduce, establish and maintain systems and procedures to 'manage work', from planning, execution, learning and improvements - not only through the Technical Services section, but across the Mine Department.
   2. Pro-actively drive the application of best applicable practice in mine planning, technology and operations support.
   3. Establish and maintain robust relationships with Mine and Process Operations to support timely and accurate short term planning for delivery of budget metal to the OPP.
   4. Maintain and improve mine site reconciliation processes.
   5. Maintain resource and reserve and LOMP systems currency.
   6. Support environmental stewardship and projects through best applicable processes.
   7. Contribute to the company's Business Improvement systems.

1. Skills development:
   1. Promote skills development and seek opportunities for the TS section staff.
   2. Establish area, team and individual skills development plans to meet existing and future business objectives.

1. Collate, prepare and report on the annual business (mine) plan and budget:
   1. Lead the first principles approach to activity based budget planning and management.
   2. Facilitate regular workshops to identify capital investment needs and assist in their definition.
   3. Actively prepare and participate in QBR management sessions.

Position Specific Requirements

• A minimum of 15 years' relevant experience, including more than 5 years at manager level, including a significant portion in open pit operations
• Multiyear experience in Ni Laterite environment in a technical services role.
• Demonstrated success in managing mine technical services teams as an expatriate at one or more remote sites.
• Demonstrated success in managing mixed cultural teams of varying education levels
• Advanced knowledge of Deswik suite (CAD, LHS, Sched, Blend, Go) and Surpac software, particularly mine planning & block modeling
• Advanced knowledge of industry best practice mine scheduling software (scheduled and blend optimisation, haulage and dump simulation, CAPEX modelling, equipment selection/replacement and sensitivity analysis)
• Significant exposure to mutli-element high-variability resources
• Relevant experience in large first world integrated mining / processing businesses
• Appropriate experience to qualify as a Competent Person under JORC or National Instrument guidelines
• Must have experience working in a developing country
• Must have experience in the operation and/or project supervision
• Possess excellent interpersonal skills
• Fluent in written and verbal English
• Skills in written and verbal French are considered a strong asset
• Experience working with mine dispatch systems, data bases and reporting systems for KPI generation
• Experience working with and supervising external contractors and consultants
