Mining Haul Truck Trainer

Key Responsibilities (Details):

• Complete any field and classroom training required maintaining a safe, efficient and productive standard at all times.
• Complete all required paperwork to a high standard.
• Assist with relief operating when necessary.
• Perform other duties as stated below.
• Comply with SCCL MSHEM Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
• Train and assess haul truck operators against all applicable Safe Work Procedures, including haul road rules, loading and spotting at the shovel or excavator, tipping at dumps, stockpiles and crushers, and interaction with light vehicles.
• Conduct pre-operational checks on the equipment and report defects in writing.
• Instruct operators in correct pre-start and walk-around inspections of the haul truck, including tyres, rims, suspension struts, brakes, steering and tray condition.
• Train operators in defensive driving, speed and gear selection on grade, correct retarder and service brake use, and safe following distances on haul roads.
• Coach operators on payload management — even loading, avoiding overload and spillage, and correct tipping technique at dumps, stockpiles and crushers.
• Train and assess operators in fatigue management, distraction control and correct use of in-vehicle monitoring and fleet management systems.
• Report unsafe haul road conditions, truck defects and near misses affecting truck operations to the Training Superintendent and Mine Operations.
• Conduct practical haul truck skills assessments and competency evaluations to determine the training needs of both experienced and trainee operators and maintain individual competency records.
• Conduct training classes required the ability to speak and be heard clearly.
• Operate various audio/visual equipment including TV, VCR, overhead and slide projectors and be knowledgeable about the topics being presented.
• Assist with the development of training material.
• Prepare reports for the Training Superintendent as required.
• Supervise and conduct daily activities for assigned trainees.
• Prepare progressive training plans/matrix to ensure SCCL Operations operators have advancement, and all machines have operator back up coverage.
• Execute all tasks given by Management safely and efficiently.
