Barrick Gold Corporation is hiring a Safety & Health Specialist II to be part of the NGM MRM Drill Services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day field assurance and contractor oversight across surface and underground drilling programs. The Safety & Health Specialist verifies contractor compliance with the Barrick Contractor Management Standard and the Barrick Global Drilling Standard through routine drill rig inspections, Critical Control Verifications (CCVs), task observations, and field audits, with follow-up to confirm corrective actions are implemented and effective. The Safety & Health Specialist serves as a key responder for hazards, near misses, and incidents by completing Isometrix reporting and leading/participating in accident/incident and iCAM investigations to drive learning and prevent recurrence.

Responsibilities
- Maintain daily field presence to support drilling operations, including surface and underground activities, verifying safe work execution and compliance with Barrick Contractor Management and Global Drilling Standards.
- Inspect drill rigs and work areas through scheduled and unannounced inspections, verify pre-starts and site setup, and ensure deficiencies are corrected before work continues.
- Perform Critical Control Verifications, task observations, and field coaching focused on high-risk drilling activities and effective control use.
- Lead and support contractor onboarding, mobilization readiness, training documentation audits, and verification of required authorizations and competencies.
- Participate in and facilitate field risk assessments, including FRA, FLRA, and JHA, to ensure hazards and controls reflect current conditions.
- Respond to hazards, near misses, and incidents; stop unsafe work, complete reporting in Isometrix, and lead or participate in incident and iCAM investigations.
- Track corrective actions, verify closure and effectiveness, and provide leadership with contractor performance feedback, trends, and priority risks.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, H&S, and IH teams to resolve field issues, promote industrial hygiene controls, and share learnings.
- Maintain professional competency through ongoing training in MSHA/OSHA requirements, Barrick standards, drilling best practices, and site requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
- 5+ years of drilling and mining experience, including surface and underground operations, preferred.
- Solid understanding of MSHA health and safety regulations and Nevada Gold Mines HS&E requirements required.
- Demonstrated experience supporting drilling operations, surface and/or underground, and contractor management oversight preferred.
- Skilled in performing drill rig inspections, Critical Control Verifications (CCVs), task observations, and compliance audits; adept in implementing corrective and preventative actions preferred.
- Experienced in Isometrix incident reporting and leading/participating in accident and incident investigations, including iCAM preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, with effective communication skills for communicating field findings to contractors and internal stakeholders preferred.
