Extractive Search have been retained to conduct a confidential search for a Regional Security Manager on behalf of a gold mining company with a West Africa portfolio, to provide strategic leadership, governance and oversight for security and crisis management across the region.

Reporting to the VP Operations / COO, you will ensure each country and site operates with a security framework proportionate to its context, while maintaining consistent regional standards and strong anticipation of emerging threats. The initial focus will be reviewing the security posture at the flagship mine and providing training and leadership to the site security team.

The role would suit a security professional with a minimum of fifteen years' relevant experience and significant multi-country leadership within mining, extractives, energy, logistics, defence, diplomatic security or intelligence. Strong experience in West Africa, a practical understanding of the region's political and security dynamics, and a track record in crisis management, executive advisory work and contractor governance are essential.

Fluency in English is required, with French strongly preferred. The role involves frequent travel across West Africa and availability outside standard hours to support incident management, including at short notice during periods of elevated risk. The position is offered on a 6/3 roster.
