Introduction to Bisha Mining Share Company
BMSC is an Eritrean company formed for the development and operation of the Bisha Mine in western Eritrea, Africa. The Bisha Mine is a high-grade copper, gold, silver and zinc mine that commenced production in February 2011. The Bisha Mine has received continuous support from the Eritrean government, who granted the Company's mining license in January 2008. The project is the first modern mine in Eritrea.
After two years of low-cost gold production, the Bisha Mine transitioned to low-cost, high-grade copper production in 2013. Starting in 2016, Bisha also produces zinc concentrate. Further resource potential exists at depth and from nearby discoveries within the Company's licensed areas.
The site is a well-established site with excellent catering and recreational facilities. The site also offers Wi-Fi internet coverage throughout the village as well international TV and a full gymnasium. Security ranks with best in the world and employees mountain bike freely. Expatriates work a roster of 6 weeks on and 3 weeks off; we offer on-site medical services as well as company medical, accident death and disability and life insurance (employee only); Employees are provided with private rooms with en-suite toilet and shower facilities; Working hours at Bisha are Monday to Saturday from 6am to 6pm with a one-hour lunch break and Sundays from 6am to 12pm with the afternoon off.
The successful candidate will earn a salary which is market related. Contract is for a period of 02 (two) Years.

PRIMARY PURPOSE
- The Reliability Engineer is responsible for ensuring that heavy mobile equipment (HME) and systems consistently perform at the required levels of reliability, safety, and availability.
- The role focuses on proactive maintenance strategies, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement to reduce failures, optimize performance, and extend asset life.
- The Reliability Engineer works closely with maintenance, operations, engineering, planning, and OEM partners to deliver sustainable improvements across both fixed plant and mobile equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Promote safe, healthy and fair work environment

- Carry out formal workplace inspections on a routine basis.
- Assist in the set-up CM (Condition Monitoring) and Reliability process at Mobile Equipment maintenance
- Assist to set up condition monitoring systems on site.
- To set up design systems and document management systems.
- To set up continuous improvement processes.
- Lead condition monitoring functions:
- Analyze the electronic data (VIMS, ET).
- Oil condition Analysis (fluid degradation) using established guidelines and Trend analysis.
- Oil contamination Analysis (Detection of contaminants) using established guidelines
- Component Wear Rate (Evaluate the wear) using Trend Analysis and Wear Tables and Type of wear
- Collect the information of magnetic plugs/magnetic screen condition and elaborate a database of the inspections.
- Lead reliability functions:
- Participate in implementing reliability improvement initiatives in conjunction with the equipment asset multi-cultural teams.
- Actively seek and identify Equipment performance opportunities together with maintenance team and execute plans to improve performance and/or cost efficiency
- Review equipment performance for efficiency/operability improvement and provide financial justification for related capital projects.
- Provide support to the sections for RCA and lead RCA investigations into significant incidents as necessary.
- Collaborating with BMSC Maintenance teams and related functions to optimize efficiencies
- Evaluate equipment performance to identify and initiate development opportunities.
- Review equipment performance for efficiency/operability improvement and provide financial justification for related capital projects.
- Support failure, root cause, and incident investigations and develop recommendations and action plans to prevent recurrence.

- Develop and build robust preventive and predictive maintenance programs, including Condition-Based Monitoring (CBM), Filter inspection, oil analysis, and thermography.
- Develop and manage condition monitoring programs (e.g., vibration, ultrasound, temperatures, pressures, fluid sampling).
- Develop critical equipment lists and reliability risk maps
- Lead root cause failure analysis (RCFA) for major breakdowns or recurring issues, utilizing tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, Pareto analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Conduct FMEA to identify potential failure modes and their impact, prioritizing risk mitigation.
- Document findings from analyses and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Identify chronic and repetitive failures and drive long-term solutions to eliminate them.
Operations & Service Delivery
- Ensure adherence to operating standards and KPI requirements
- Investigation of reoccurring failures and recommendations for elimination of faults to improve reliability of plant
- Development SOP’s for the relevant work and training needs of Eritrean workforce
- Develop Bills of Material (BOMs), critical spares lists, and reliability-based inventory recommendations.
- Improve PM compliance and quality through audits and coaching of maintenance teams.
- Support capital projects with reliability input, including design reviews, risk assessments, and lifecycle costing.
- Provide technical support to maintenance and operations teams
- Participate in daily/weekly meetings to prioritize and resolve reliability issues.
- Coordinate with OEMs, contractors, and vendors for specialist diagnostics, support, and warranty claims.
- Work closely with maintenance, operations, engineering, planning, and OEM partners to achieve shared goals
- Ensure compliance with OEM standards, site procedures, and safety regulations.
- Evaluate new technologies and reliability tools for potential implementation.
- Provide technical support to maintenance and operations teams
Technical and Financial Budgeting and Forecasting
- Participation in budget preparation and forecasting for both financial and technical budgeting for relevant areas
- Participate in capital application for optimization projects
People Management
- Implement individual development plans for all reporting staff
- Manage individual potential and implement succession plans aligned with the organization structures and job descriptions
- Manage and improve team and staff morale to ensure their involvement in relevant capacity building initiatives

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Reliability Engineering, Condition Monitoring or trade qualification with extensive reliability experience in HME.
- Technical engineering trade or equivalent within the mechanical profession will be advantageous.
- Certificate in Planned maintenance systems or equivalent
- 4 Years experience in a supervisory role in a mining environment
Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum 10+ years’ experience in mining, mineral processing, power generation, or heavy industry, with demonstrated experience leading condition monitoring and reliability functions in operational environments.
- Minimum 4 Years’ experience in HME Mobile plant as a planned maintenance Supervisor
- Underground HME experience will be advantageous
- Previous expatriate assignment experience will be required
- Strategic HME planning experience will be highly advantageous
- Must be a holder of a valid driver’s licence.
Technical Skills
