Job Summary

The Reliability Engineer, as part of the Asset Management team, plays a vital role in enhancing the reliability, performance, and life cycle management of critical equipment assets. This role involves analyzing equipment performance data, implementing predictive and preventive maintenance strategies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize asset reliability, availability, and maintainability. The engineer will conduct root cause failure analysis (RCFA), develop corrective action plans, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to minimize downtime, reduce maintenance costs, and improve asset performance. Working closely with the broader Asset Management team, the engineer ensures alignment with the overall asset management strategy, while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The ultimate objective is to maximize the operational life of key assets, improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), and contribute to the success of the asset management program. Will also lead and mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement. This position requires 50%+ travel to remote sites overseas, ensuring that global operations are supported for reliability excellence.

Key Responsibilities

1. Asset Performance and Reliability Analysis:
  • Analyze asset performance data to identify trends, potential failures, and areas for improvement in the life cycle of critical equipment.
  • Develop and execute strategies to optimize asset reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM) across the organization.

2. Failure Mode and Root Cause Analysis
  • Perform Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to identify underlying issues causing equipment failure.
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to address recurring failures and improve overall equipment performance.

3. Data Analysis & Risk Assessment
  • Develop and track reliability performance metrics such as Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and others.
  • Provide regular reports to senior management, highlighting reliability performance, asset health, and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure that reliability strategies and asset management practices adhere to industry standards, regulations, and safety guidelines (e.g., ISO 55000, PAS 55).
  • Assess and mitigate risks related to equipment failure, safety hazards, and operational impact on asset performance.

4. Maintenance Optimization
  • Apply RCM principles to prioritize and optimize maintenance tasks based on asset criticality and failure consequences.
  • Identify and implement improvements to maintenance strategies that maximize asset life and performance while reducing costs.

5. Asset Management Strategy Development
  • As a key member of asset management team develop and implement a comprehensive asset management strategy that aligns with organizational goals.
  • Ensure asset management policies are integrated with reliability engineering practices to optimize the lifecycle of key assets.
  • Conduct life cycle cost analysis (LCCA) for major assets to assess their total cost of ownership and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ensure that asset management decisions are based on long-term value rather than short-term costs.

6. Project Management

6. Project Management
  • Manage and oversee reliability projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate with project teams, vendors, and contractors to ensure alignment with reliability objectives.

7. Technical Leadership & Mentorship
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior reliability engineers and maintenance personnel.
  • Lead training sessions and workshops to promote a culture of reliability within the organization.

8. Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure all reliability engineering activities comply with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Participate in safety audits, inspections, and reviews to identify and address potential reliability issues.

9. Global Support & Travel
  • Provide on-site support and expertise to remote sites overseas, ensuring consistent reliability practices and solutions across all locations.
  • Facilitate the implementation of global reliability initiatives, adapting strategies to local conditions and challenges.

10. Continuous Improvement
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for cost reduction, process optimization, and reliability enhancement.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in reliability engineering.Collaborate with maintenance, operations, safety, and engineering teams to align on reliability goals and ensure smooth asset management execution.
  • Provide technical expertise and support for asset management initiatives, ensuring that reliability is a key consideration in all phases of asset planning and execution.

11. Collaboration and Cross-Functional Support
  • Collaborate with maintenance, operations, safety, and engineering teams to align on reliability goals and ensure smooth asset management execution.
  • Provide technical expertise and support for asset management initiatives, ensuring that reliability is a key consideration in all phases of asset planning and execution.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mining, or related fields).
  • 8-10 years of experience in reliability, availability, and maintainability engineering, with a focus on mining equipment and systems.
