Senior Control System Engineer | Tier 1 Mining Projects

Role Overview

OPUS TR is seeking a highly capable Control Systems Engineer to support major infrastructure projects across Australia. This role is suited to an engineer with strong technical depth in automation, SCADA, PLC/RTU programming, and control system integration across complex operational environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, configure, and optimise PLC, SCADA, HMI, RTU, and DCS systems for industrial and renewable energy assets.
  • Lead control system design, architecture development, and functional specification documentation.
  • Perform logic development, testing, FAT/SAT, and commissioning activities.
  • Integrate control systems with plant equipment
  • Conduct troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and performance optimisation for operational assets.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian standards, network requirements, cybersecurity frameworks, and project specifications.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, OEMs, and site personnel to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Provide technical input into tenders, feasibility studies, and design reviews.
Skills & Experience
  • Degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, Control Systems, or Automation Engineering.
  • Proven experience in industrial automation or renewable energy control systems.
  • Proficiency with major platforms such as Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, Schneider, Rockwell.
  • Strong understanding of communication protocols
  • Experience with SCADA platforms (e.g., Citect, Ignition, Wonderware, GE iFIX, AVEVA).
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, SLDs, control philosophies, and functional specifications.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and documentation skills.
  • Experience delivering projects through design, testing, commissioning, and operational support phases.
