Senior Mining Application Engineer – Mining Systems

Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited Company (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. In support of this growth, we are looking for a Senior Mining Application Engineer – Mining Systems to join our team and help us deliver on our growth plans.

Reporting directly to the Superintendent Mining Systems, the Senior Mining Application Engineer – Mining Systems provides end-to-end technical ownership of mission-critical mining applications and operational technology systems across both Open Pit and Underground operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, optimisation, integration, and effective utilisation of mining systems including fleet management, production reporting, IoT platforms, underground communications systems, and automation technologies

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead optimisation of mining systems including fleet management, production reporting, automation systems, and IoT platforms.
• Ensure systems are correctly configured to align with mine planning, production execution, and operational requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement of system workflows, data accuracy, and operational efficiency.
• Improve integrity and reliability of operational reporting systems (e.g. Jigsaw, Deswik Ops).
• Improved system utilisation rates
• Reduction in manual intervention and reporting corrections
• Coordinate with OEMs and vendors to resolve high-impact technical issues.
• Increased system performance from vendor-managed platforms
• Establish technical standards, escalation frameworks, and support models for site systems.
• Provide direct technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to national Mining Systems Application Support Engineers.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve operational performance through mining systems optimisation and integration.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related discipline
• Minimum 10+ years’ experience in mining systems, operational technology, or mining automation environments.
• Significant hands-on experience in underground mining systems and/or fleet automation systems.
• Proven experience working with OEM systems (e.g. Sandvik, Caterpillar, Epiroc or equivalent).
• Experience managing complex technical escalations in live production environments
• Experience leading technical teams or mentoring engineers in operational environments
• Previous experience in working with a multinational team in an overseas environment
