The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Specialist, Procurement Intel CSO Projects to join our Growth Projects Procurement team in Toronto, Ontario.
Reporting to the Manager, Procurement Intelligence, Planning - Growth Projects, this role will serve as the functional lead and subject matter expert for the Coupa Sourcing Optimization (CSO) platform across Capital Projects Procurement.
In this role, you will design, configure, and optimize complex sourcing events that support major capital projects and strategic procurement initiatives. By integrating sourcing strategy, supplier data, market intelligence, and optimization modeling, you will enable data-driven award decisions that improve transparency, reduce cost, mitigate risk, and maximize value.
You will also support procurement planning activities for large-scale projects, helping stakeholders develop sourcing strategies, supplier engagement plans, procurement schedules, and market assessments that contribute to successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities
Coupa Sourcing Optimization (CSO) Leadership
- Act as the primary functional expert for the Coupa Sourcing Optimization (CSO) platform across Projects Procurement.
- Lead the configuration and design of sourcing optimization events, including supplier bid structures, constraints, scoring models, award scenarios, and optimization logic.
- Develop governance standards, templates, training materials, and best practices that drive sustainable CSO adoption across procurement teams.
- Support users and stakeholders in leveraging CSO capabilities to improve sourcing outcomes and decision quality.
Strategic Sourcing Event Management
- Design and execute complex sourcing events across capital projects, construction, mining services, logistics, materials, equipment, professional services, and indirect categories.
- Translate business requirements, sourcing strategies, and supplier inputs into optimized sourcing models
- Structure and validate supplier bid data to facilitate objective comparisons and informed award recommendations.
- Ensure sourcing events properly reflect commercial, operational, risk, compliance, and stakeholder requirements.
Scenario Analysis & Award Optimization
- Build and evaluate multiple sourcing scenarios using optimization techniques and business constraints.
- Assess trade-offs related to cost, service levels, supplier capacity, risk exposure, schedule requirements, and operational impacts.
- Develop data-driven award recommendations for procurement leadership and project stakeholders.
- Document assumptions, evaluation methodology, and decision rationale to improve transparency, governance, and auditability
Market Intelligence & Capital Projects Procurement Planning
- Develop and maintain intelligence on supplier markets, industry trends, capacity constraints, lead times, commercial conditions, and sourcing risks.
- Support procurement planning for capital projects, including package strategies, sourcing approaches, vendor identification, procurement schedules, and market engagement plans.
- Apply market intelligence insights to sourcing optimization models and supplier strategies.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, risk mitigation, supplier diversification, and value improvement initiatives.
- Provide recommendations to procurement, engineering, finance, and project teams regarding sourcing strategies and market conditions
Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure quality, accuracy, and integrity of sourcing data and supplier responses.
- Develop reports and dashboards that communicate sourcing results, savings opportunities, risks, and implementation recommendations.
- Collaborate with IT, Coupa administrators, and process owners to improve sourcing processes and system integration.
- Support testing, deployment, user acceptance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives related to CSO enhancements.
- Stay current on Coupa roadmap developments and sourcing optimization best practices.
Stakeholder Engagement & Capability Building
- Partner with category managers, procurement professionals, project teams, and suppliers throughout the sourcing lifecycle.
- Translate complex sourcing optimization outputs into clear business recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Support change management initiatives that encourage adoption of data-driven sourcing approaches.
- Develop organizational capability through coaching, training, playbooks, templates, and knowledge-sharing programs.
About You
Experience
- Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, supply chain, commercial analytics, or related disciplines.
- Experience supporting capital projects, construction, industrial, mining, manufacturing, or infrastructure procurement environments.
- Demonstrated experience conducting strategic sourcing events, supplier evaluations, and commercial analyses.
- Experience working with sourcing technologies, optimization tools, procurement systems, or e-sourcing platforms.
- Strong experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders in complex project environments.
Education
- Undergraduate Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Commerce, Economics, Finance, or related discipline.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing methodologies and procurement best practices.
- Experience with sourcing optimization, scenario modeling, and bid evaluation techniques.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to transform large datasets into actionable insights.
- Understanding of capital project procurement planning and contracting strategies.
- Strong financial, commercial, and total cost of ownership analysis capabilities.
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly to technical and business audiences.
- Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Coupa Sourcing Optimization (CSO), Coupa Sourcing, SAP Ariba, or similar sourcing platforms.
- Professional certifications such as CPSM, SCMP, PMP, MCIPS, or equivalent.
- Experience within mining, metals, energy, construction, infrastructure, or industrial sectors.
- Knowledge of procurement analytics, sourcing optimization methodologies, and digital procurement transformation initiatives.
- Experience supporting large-scale capital projects or project procurement portfolios.
