Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited Company (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. We are committed to the development of Laos through our production of cooper and gold, whilst striving for business excellence throughout the business.

In support of this growth, we are looking for a Superintendent – Metallurgy Copper to join our team and help us deliver on our growth plans.

Reporting directly to the Senior Superintendent Technical, the Superintendent Metallurgy Copper will be accountable for achieving copper production targets safely and sustainably. In this role you will be leading a team of metallurgists including two Senior Metallurgists, one production metallurgist, two graduates, and a number of metallurgical technicians. Metallurgical accounting and production planning knowledge is critical to the success of the role. You are also expected to be involved at various stages of projects impacting your area such as initiating improvement ideas, input into process design criteria, design review, execution, and operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the copper production circuit from ore blend and communition to the final product of electrowinning cells.
  • Implementing the safety management system, promoting safe work practices, leading safety incident investigations, and managing the execution of corrective actions.
  • Ensuring daily, weekly, and monthly KPIs are met.
  • Leading the copper metallurgy team comprised of senior mets, production mets, and graduates.
  • Collaboration with other team leaders from mining, maintenance, labratoary, and operations on matters impacting the copper circuit.
  • Short term and long term forecast of physicals (ore usage, chemical reagents consumption, final product tons, tailings).
  • Development of capital and operational cost models.
  • Tracking overhead and unit costs, preparation of weekly and monthly cost reports, and asessment of cost performance versus budget.
  • Lead/facilitate/participate in technical studies focused on plant performance, de-bottlenecking, and future expansions.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary degree in Mineral Processing, Metallurgy, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in mineral processing, preferrably copper.
  • Experience managing and leading metallurgy teams.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Project management experience (feasibility, design, execution, commissioning, ops readiness).
  • Detailed technical knowledge and practical experience in milling, floatation, leaching, roasting, and electrowinning processes.
  • Process control automation experience.
  • Experience in production planning and metallurgical accounting.

The selected candidate can choose to reside in Laos or FIFO from their point of hire (including international flights).
