At Nevada Gold Mines (NGM), the Drill Services Superintendent provides critical leadership and governance over the district contractor drilling fleet, ensuring drilling programs are planned and executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with NGM and Barrick policies, standards, and industry best practices.

This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced drilling professional who thrives on operational problem-solving, contractor performance, technical governance, and collaboration across geology and site operations. The position plays a key role in implementing and continuously improving the Barrick Global Drilling Standard while ensuring drilling activities deliver fit-for-purpose results that support business objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach, and mentor Drill Services teams and drilling contractors, promoting a strong safety culture, accountability, and operational excellence
  • Lead and enforce HS&E performance across all drilling activities, ensuring compliance with NGM, Barrick, and contractor requirements
  • Own drilling contractor management, including scope development, performance oversight, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Provide technical governance of drilling programs to ensure safe, fit-for-purpose execution aligned with industry best practices
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee district-wide drilling programs and rig movements to ensure efficient and compliant delivery
  • Maintain and support consistent application of the Barrick Global Drilling Standard across drilling operations
  • Drive technical development within Geology and Drilling Services through coaching, training, mentoring, and standardized drilling practices
  • Partner with geologists, contractors, and site operations to develop drilling programs, communicate risks, resolve issues, and optimize execution
  • Review drilling requirements, methodologies, contractor capabilities, operational risks, and performance to ensure programs meet business and technical objectives
  • Identify opportunities to improve drilling productivity, quality, safety, cost performance, and operational reliability
  • Provide technical leadership and sound judgment when addressing complex drilling and operational challenges
  • Establish clear expectations with contractors and internal teams and hold stakeholders accountable for safe and effective execution
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and the implementation of standardized drilling practices across the district
  • Champion a strong safety culture by leading by example and ensuring compliance with all HS&E policies and procedures

Qualifications

Education
  • High School Education

Experience
  • Minimum ten (10) years of relevant experience, including mine drilling projects and commercial drilling contracts
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in a leadership role overseeing multiple drilling contracts and/or drilling projects
  • Strong working knowledge of drilling practices, including Diamond Drilling (DD), Reverse Circulation (RC), and Sonic drilling
  • Demonstrated experience managing drilling contractors and coordinating multiple drilling programs
  • Proven ability to provide technical governance and operational leadership in a mining environment
  • Strong understanding of drilling safety, contractor management, operational risk, and industry best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and lead technical and operational teams
