The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual to join our Fixed PlantMaintenance Department as Supervisor - Waste Management.

About the role

Reporting to the Forman - Maintenance Site Services, the Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all waste management activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with New Porgera Limited's environmental, health, safety and operational standards.

In this role, you will:
  • Supervise and coordinate all waste management activities across mine and camp operations.
  • Ensure waste handling, segregation, storage, transportation, and disposal activities comply with company standards and environmental regulations.
  • Plan, allocate, and monitor work activities, equipment, and resources to achieve operational targets safely and efficiently.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to employees and contractors to ensure tasks are completed in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Promote and maintain a high level of health, safety, and environmental awareness within the team.
  • Communicate safety, environmental, and operational issues on a shift-by-shift basis.
  • Conduct workplace inspections and monitor work practices to ensure compliance with NPL policies and procedures.
  • Ensure planning and execution of work activities meet agreed environmental objectives and targets.
  • Monitor waste management performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to waste management activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant NPL Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety, and operational policies and procedures .
  • Support environmental initiatives and sustainable waste management practices across the operation .
About You

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences:
  • Diploma or a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or a related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience in waste management operations, preferably in a mining or remote site environment.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising teams and contractors.
  • Strong understanding of waste segregation, collection, transportation, storage, and disposal practices.
  • Ability to communicate safety and operational issues on a shift-by-shift basis.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams safely and improve safety awareness and performance.
  • Demonstrated application of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Good computer skills, including the use of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, integrated management systems and SAP
  • Sound knowledge of environmental compliance standards and requirements relating to waste management activities.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills .
Mobilisation Requirement

This is a PNG National position, a site-based role on a FIFO arrangement with a rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off. Candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening (to be arranged only for successful candidates after the interview stage), and provide an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months). Candidates must be PNG Nationals and available to start immediately. Females are encouraged to apply.
