
Technical Specialist – Cranes
Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited Company (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. We are committed to the development of Laos through our production of cooper and gold, whilst striving for business excellence throughout the business. In 2024, our planned production is 6,200 kg of Gold and 5,305 tonnes of Copper.

In support of this growth, we are looking for Technical Specialist – Cranes to join our team to deliver on our growth plans, and be a part of this exciting future.
This role reports directly to the Superintendent – Mobile Maintenance. This role is to provide specialist technical support for cranes, hoists and lifting equipment across site to ensure equipment is maintained in a safe, reliable and compliant condition. The role supports maintenance execution teams through technical guidance, inspection standards, defect elimination, work quality assurance, statutory and preventative maintenance compliance, and capability development to improve crane reliability, safety and operational readiness.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide technical leadership for maintenance, inspection, testing and repair of site cranes, hoists, winches and associated lifting equipment.
- Develop, review and improve maintenance strategies, inspection routines, task lists and work instructions for crane and lifting equipment.
- Support execution teams in fault finding and troubleshooting of structural, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical crane systems.
- Monitor compliance with statutory inspections, load testing, certification, maintenance records and lifting equipment registers.
- Review defects, failures and recurring issues, and lead root cause analysis to eliminate repeat crane and lifting equipment breakdowns.
- Verify work quality and ensure repairs, modifications and installations are completed to approved standards, procedures and manufacturer requirements.
- Provide coaching and technical development for maintainers to improve equipment care and execution quality.
- Support planning and shutdown teams with work scope development, materials identification, labour estimates and risk controls for crane maintenance work.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Relevant trade qualification in mechanical, electrical or heavy equipment maintenance, or equivalent technical qualification.
- Recognised training or certification in crane inspection, lifting equipment inspection, rigging or lifting operations is desirable.
- High risk work licences or equivalent competencies relevant to cranes, rigging or elevated work platforms are advantageous.
- Minimum 8 to 10 years relevant maintenance experience in cranes, lifting equipment or heavy industrial/mobile maintenance environments.
- Demonstrated experience with inspection, maintenance and repair of cranes, hoists and associated lifting equipment in mining, processing or heavy industry.
- Proven experience in developing maintenance task lists, work instructions, defect elimination actions and compliance records.
- Experience in supporting or leading workforce capability development in multicultural or developing country operating environments is desirable
This role is a FIFO position on a 28 day on 14 day off roster from your home country. A very attractive expatriate package is on offer, commensurate with your experience and the competitive market rates.
