Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited Company (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. We are committed to the development of Laos through our production of cooper and gold, whilst striving for business excellence throughout the business. In 2024, our planned production is 6,200 kg of Gold and 5,305 tonnes of Copper.

In support of this growth, we are looking for Technical Specialist – Vehicles to join our team to deliver on our growth plans, and be a part of this exciting future

This role reports directly to the Superintendent – Mobile Maintenance. The purpose of this role is to provide specialist technical support for the site fleet of light vehicles, road trucks, buses and other road-registered transport assets to ensure they are maintained in a safe, reliable and compliant condition. The role supports maintenance execution teams through technical guidance, inspection standards, defect elimination, work quality assurance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical leadership for maintenance, inspection, diagnostics and repair of site light vehicles, road trucks, buses and related fleet assets.
  • Develop, review and improve maintenance strategies, service schedules, task lists and work instructions for road vehicle and fleet maintenance activities.
  • Support execution teams in fault finding and troubleshooting of diesel and petrol engines, driveline systems, brakes, steering, suspension, electrical systems, HVAC and vehicle safety systems.
  • Monitor compliance with preventative maintenance requirements, roadworthiness inspections, statutory registrations, licensing obligations and vehicle service records.
  • Review defects, failures and recurring vehicle issues, and lead root cause analysis to eliminate repeat breakdowns and improve fleet reliability.
  • Verify work quality and ensure repairs, modifications and servicing are completed to approved standards, procedures, manufacturer requirements and legal compliance expectations.
  • Contribute to budget control and cost optimisation by improving maintenance effectiveness, component life, contractor scope management and fleet replacement recommendations.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Relevant trade qualification in automotive, diesel, heavy vehicle or equivalent mechanical discipline.
  • Recognised training or certification in automotive diagnostics, heavy vehicle inspection or fleet maintenance management is desirable.
  • Minimum 8 to 10 years relevant maintenance experience in light vehicles, commercial road trucks, buses or mixed fleet maintenance environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with inspection, maintenance and repair of road-registered fleet vehicles in mining, industrial, transport or contractor fleet operations.
  • Proven experience in developing maintenance task lists, work instructions, defect elimination actions and compliance records for fleet assets.
  • Experience in supporting or leading workforce capability development in multicultural or developing country operating environments is desirable

This role is a FIFO position on a 28 day on 14 day off roster from your home country. A very attractive expatriate package is on offer, commensurate with your experience and the competitive market rates.
