Workshop Coordinator - Mining Shutdowns & Tooling Management

Programmed Industrial Maintenance is a leading provider of maintenance, shutdown and project services to major mining and resource clients throughout Western Australia.

As our shutdown business continues to grow, we are seeking a highly organised and motivated Workshop Coordinator to take ownership of our Welshpool Workshop, tooling containers, inventory systems and shutdown equipment management.

This is a hands-on role that will suit someone who enjoys structure, organisation and accountability and takes pride in ensuring equipment is always shutdown-ready.

About the Role

The Workshop Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our workshop, tooling containers, shutdown equipment and inventory systems.

You will ensure our shutdown tooling and equipment is maintained, tested, tracked, serviced and ready for mobilisation at all times. The successful candidate will be expected to develop, implement and continuously improve workshop processes while maintaining high standards of organisation and accountability.

This role requires someone who can take ownership, work independently and create order in a fast-paced shutdown environment.

Key Responsibilities

Tooling & Equipment Management
  • Manage all shutdown tooling containers and workshop assets.
  • Coordinate mobilisation and demobilisation of tooling containers.
  • Conduct post-shutdown inspections, stocktakes and replenishment activities.
  • Ensure tooling containers are cleaned, organised, restocked and shutdown-ready.
  • Maintain accurate records of all tooling and equipment.
  • Monitor tooling condition and coordinate repairs or replacements.

Inventory & Asset Control
  • Implement and maintain inventory management systems.
  • Track tooling, consumables, PPE and workshop assets.
  • Conduct regular stocktakes and inventory audits.
  • Manage minimum and maximum stock levels.
  • Coordinate purchasing of replacement tooling and consumables.

Compliance & Equipment Servicing
  • Coordinate testing and tagging requirements.
  • Manage servicing schedules for:
    • Welders
    • Breathalyzer units
    • Adflo / Versaflo equipment
    • Battery tooling
    • Electrical equipment
    • Lifting and rigging equipment
    • Handtools
  • Ensure compliance records remain current and auditable.

Workshop Coordination
  • Maintain workshop organisation and housekeeping standards.
  • Coordinate freight, transport and logistics requirements.
  • Assist with loading and unloading equipment and tooling containers.
  • Ensure shutdown equipment is prepared and available for mobilisation.
  • Support operational teams with tooling and equipment requirements.

Process Improvement
  • Develop and implement workshop procedures and systems.
  • Create standardised workflows for equipment control and inventory management.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accountability.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across workshop operations.

About You

To be successful in this role you will possess:

Essential
  • Previous experience in a workshop coordination, stores, logistics or inventory management role.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical shutdown tooling and equipment.
  • Experience managing inventory and asset registers.
  • High level organisational and planning skills.
  • Strong computer literacy including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work autonomously and take ownership.
  • Forklift Licence.
  • Current Driver's Licence.

Desirable
  • HR Licence
  • Experience within mining, shutdowns or maintenance services
  • Mechanical trade background
  • Experience with inventory management software or ERP systems
  • Test and Tag knowledge
  • Experience managing respiratory equipment and welding equipment
