Role Details

Gold Fields Australia is currently seeking a Technician: Electrical (Auto) to join the Mining Department at Agnew Gold Mine.

Reporting to the Supervisor: Underground Maintenance, you will be responsible for providing high quality maintenance and auto-electrical services on a wide variety of heavy equipment as used in the mining operations.

This role is offered on an 8 days on, 6 days off 7 nights on, 7 nights off roster and is Fly in Fly Out from Perth.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of Gold Fields and ensures that the Vital Behaviours program is supported and strengthened;
  • Repair, service and maintain electrical and electronic systems for underground mobile plant used in mining operations. Heavy equipment includes Caterpillar Underground loaders, Atlas Copco 6020 & 65 trucks, Sandvik development drills and Atlas production drills;
  • Demonstrate full compliance with the OHS and Environmental Management System standards by assisting with the implementation and participating in initiatives, regular meetings, investigations and training;
  • Participating in and contributing to audits in the maintenance and production facilities;
  • Meet maintenance budget targets by scheduled inspections, servicing, adjustments, troubleshooting and timely repairs;
  • Providing accurate maintenance knowledge and practical application to minimise down time and potential loss of production;
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all task instructions and procedures. Ensure procedures are adhered to when carrying out maintenance tasks, assisting colleagues to do the same;
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping throughout workshops to ensure a safe work environment and effectively manage risks;
  • Maximise asset value through effective utilisation, care and security of maintenance equipment and tools with due consideration of safety and environmental issues;
  • Consistently demonstrate and reflect behaviours, actions and attitudes in line with the Gold Field's Vision, Values and Code of Ethics. Actively promote Gold Field's policies, procedures and systems relating to your area of responsibility.


Key factors to your success include:
  • Recognised Auto Electrical Trade Qualification
  • Certificate II in Automotive Mechanical (Air conditioning)
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • RCT teleremote training and experience
  • Experience with CAT underground loaders, Atlas Copco trucks, development and production drills is essential
  • Crane, Dogging, EWP and Forklift Tickets would be highly regarded
  • Valid Drivers Licence
