Job Overview

The Business Development Manager is responsible for the promotion, sales and support of products offered to obtain maximum revenue, profitability and market share in an assigned territory. A key aspect of their responsibility is building long-term customer relationships through a detailed understanding of the customer's business.
  • Develops sales opportunities for Komatsu Hard Rock product lines within the defined territory or with assigned accounts.
  • Builds strong working relationships with relevant customer personnel.
  • Assesses customers' total potential with Komatsu Hard Rock products. Performs opportunity analysis by customer and site.
  • Acts as key contact for accounts and liaises with appropriate personnel to communicate customer service needs.


Responsibilities

  • Develops strategic relationships with customer's regional offices to balance the requirements from both a corporate and mine site level
  • Provides input to Product Managers to address product offering and pricing.
  • Set direction, expectations and constantly communicate with current dealers in the western region
  • Develops a sales and service account plan for key accounts within designated territory or specific assigned accounts. Account Plan to include sales growth plan and sales opportunity development according to company guideline.
  • Responsible for completion of sales quotations for defined territory or assigned accounts.
  • Completion of lost sales reports.
  • Participate as key member of larger account sales teams.
  • Maintains accurate customer records including installed base, key contacts, sales figures, customer project status, etc. using sales force system as prescribed by the Company.
  • Assists as required in any physical inventory counts (especially any consignment stocks).
  • Assist in developing sales budgets and forecasts to be rolled up into the respective regional budget.
  • Ensures Customer is in compliance with Komatsu terms and conditions of sale, assist in collection of those sales as needed.
  • Provides the Company with regular status reports on business activities, opportunity development and overall satisfaction of the Customers base.
  • Ensures personal company related expenses are processed in accordance with Company policy.
  • May be required to participate in technical studies, demonstrations or field tests.


Education / Qualification

  • Associates Degree in Business or Technical (Engineering/Trades) degree (or two-year college diploma).
  • Five to seven years proven sales experience of heavy equipment.
  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Strong negotiation and persuasion skills.
  • Self-motivated and high energy with a sense of urgency in job responsibility.
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated, broad team.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and active listening skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate with varying audiences from production workers to customer management.
  • Ability to interpret financial statements.
  • Highly developed time management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of the relevant industry.
  • Some experience with or ability to develop knowledge of customer business processes.
  • Computer Literacy including MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.).
  • Ability to travel frequently.
  • Ability to work underground.
