Position summary
Our Business Services Centre (BSC) contributes to Downer's success by delivering scalable finance-related services, leveraging the capability of our people, technology and standardised processes.

Services provided by the BSC to Downer Group include payroll, purchase to pay, accounts receivable, and travel and expense management. The delivery of these services is enabled by the combined efforts of BSC's solution advisory, solution training and systems accounting teams, together with change management, finance and human resources specialists.

This is a high-volume processing environment where operations management and continuous improvement are vital to success.

The role will support the BSC functions eliminate waste and improve business processes using metrics, continuous improvement methodologies and LEAN concepts.

Key duties of the role will include:
  • Support the Process Improvement Specialist in driving a culture of continuous improvement and other LEAN concepts by coaching, training and guiding teams in the concepts and tools.
  • Analyse process data and support measurement of key processes
  • Lift process problem solving capability using LEAN principles
  • Improve visual management, and measurement of service delivery.
  • Build capability in the business improvement champions in each functional team.
  • Support the customer governance mechanisms and analysing customer feedback

The successful candidate will have the following:
  • Tertiary qualifications in business, accounting, engineering or IT
  • Training or qualifications in LEAN, Six Sigma or total quality management
  • Project management qualifications preferred but not essential
  • Solid experience a in similar process improvement role
  • Shared services knowledge or experience in large volume/complex organisations
  • Proficiency in working with large scale ERP systems
