The person in this position will work with multidisciplinary project teams, providing computer-aided drafting expertise using AutoCAD on a Windows platform. Work may involve creating, updating, and revising engineering drawings of industrial civil, mechanical, electrical, and structural systems.

Responsibilities include processing survey data; performing grading design; developing and managing project CAD file structures, basefiles, planimetrics, 3D design surfaces, pipe networks, regulatory permitting 2D maps (including aerial photographs in background with topographic features as well as 2D line work overlays), and construction drawings and renderings; determining quantities for cost estimating; and preparing reports. Additional responsibilities may include construction observation and monitoring. Work may involve out-of-town assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two-year technical certificate or experience/coursework directly related to the job responsibilities described above
  • 5 years of design/CAD experience
  • Proficiency using current versions of AutoCAD
  • Experience with civil engineering project layout, design, and drawing preparation
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members and clients
  • Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with project team members in a high-energy working environment that encourages self-initiative
  • A flexible working style and the ability to work both independently and with teams of specialists to meet client and project needs
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship
  • Acceptable driving record


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the consulting industry
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D
  • Familiarity with software packages, including drafting packages such as CADWorx, Revit, MicroStation, GEOPAK, ArcGIS, Excel, and word processing software
  • Basic understanding of surveying principles
  • Familiarity with construction cost estimating
  • Familiarity with work in an industrial environment and basic knowledge of industrial disciplines and construction


NOTE: Some work locations may feature rough terrain typical of construction sites and may also require entering and working within facilities that include limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities. Safety training will be provided. Applicants may be asked to participate in a drug screening program at the request of specific clients.
