As we continue to grow, an opportunity has arisen for a motivated Control Systems Engineer to manage, maintain, and provide support for the process control and monitoring systems at the Cadia mine site.

Our Cadia site is located in Central West New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional town of Orange. Employees reside in the varied accommodation options in Orange, with the surrounding winery and national park areas to enjoy. Who we are looking for

We are seeking a passionate and technically astute Control Systems Engineer to deliver engineering support for the control and monitoring systems at Cadia. This include DCS, PLC’s, SCADA systems, instrumentation, data historians, and other intelligent systems. In addition to the design, integration and implementation of complex control systems, this role will see you utilise your expertise towards facilitating and delivering improvement projects on time and within budget.

Our ideal candidate will be a safety-focused and process-oriented Control Systems Engineer with relevant experience in Control and Monitoring Systems as utilised in the Mining and Processing Industry. Your values of honesty and integrity, and the ability to assume accountability will align with those of Newcrest and will enable you to be set up for long-term success. Utilising your excellent communication and interpersonal skills you will partner with suppliers to resolve problems at the right level and manage relationships with external and internal stakeholders.

In addition to the above key skills you will also have:
  • Bachelor of Engineering in electrical, mechatronics or similar
  • Ability to understand and improve existing systems through modification of code and amendment of programs
  • Highly developed fault-finding, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Exposure with one or more of the following systems:
    • Yokogawa Centum VP
    • Yokogawa Stardom PLC
    • Citect SCADA
    • Windows Server platforms
    • PI Historian
    • Ethernet/IP, Modbus RTU/TCP & general IP based networks


Please note: The current roster for this role is 5 days on/2 days off and has an on-call component which currently is 1 week per month.
