Intermountain Electronics ('IE') is a leading provider of custom-engineered Process, Electrical Control and Power Distribution solutions to the Oil & Gas, Mining, Industrial, and Power and Utility industries in North America. Our products range from large-scale, one-off Power Distribution, Control and Pump and Process systems to standardized off-the-shelf electronic/electro-mechanical components. We are currently seeking a Regional Sales Manager for the Oil & Gas sector to be based in Denver, Colorado. This person will report directly to the Director of IE's Oil and Gas business.

The Denver Regional Sales Manager is responsible for all Oil & Gas related business development and account management in the greater Denver region. This position will focus on selling equipment directly into the broader DJ Basin, while collaborating with IE's other Regional Sales Managers to cover Denver related business development and account management activity for shipments to the West Texas (Permian), Northeast (Marcellus/Utica), Colorado, Oklahoma City, and North Dakota (Bakken) regions. This includes actively covering Denver area corporate offices and EPCs / consulting engineering offices project activity in other regions.

Job Summary

Strategic
  • Collaborate with the Director of Oil and Gas and leadership team to develop market and sales strategies for the Oil & Gas Segment and target region.
  • Identify applications and customer targets that are good fit for IE based on type of equipment purchased, customer behavior, and sector fundamentals (growth, openness to new vendors); prioritize efforts accordingly.
  • Assist in the development of relevant segment value propositions, presentations and marketing material.
  • Assess the competitive landscape by examining the sales strategies of key competitors, identifying market trends, best practices and recommended competitive responses.
  • Collaborate internally with operations to identify and address gaps vs. market segment needs and expectations
  • Participate in other planning and strategy sessions.

Day-to-day
  • Build and manage sales pipeline to meet segment revenue objectives for the region.
  • Lead business development in the Houston region, while supporting other oil and gas regions.
  • Identify key target customers and projects in relevant regions. Initiate relationships, get on bid lists, and manage quote pipeline.
  • Act as 'Subject Matter Expert' for customers in Houston. Help develop initial designs and specifications as necessary to help solve problems for customers. Use relationships to close orders.
  • Take accountability for setting and achieving annual order bookings goals, based on opportunity within region.
  • Develop 'business winning' EPC/engineering and channel accounts as appropriate.
  • Cultivate long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with strategic / flagship customers in this region.
  • Team sell with other Regional Managers.
  • Engage in professional organizations and associations, trade shows, and the community in order to develop new leads and customers.


Experience and Skills

  • Five years technical experience in selling custom engineered/integrated electrical solutions and process capital equipment products, process systems or solutions in Oil and Gas sector with deep knowledge of customers, applications, competitors and channel.
  • B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering or equal number of years of experience in associated field.
  • Demonstrate an operational command of the Oil and Gas business opportunities with established key contacts
  • Experience selling customized products in a collaborative, partnering environment with Oil and Gas end customers and channel partners
  • Available for travel / regional presence at least 75% of the time
  • Proven track record of successful territory and Oil and Gas segment sales/business development of engineered solutions
  • Excellent presentation and verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-starter: candidate is hungry to grow business; comfortable with commission based bonus structure and split commission for sales across regions.
  • Excellent time management, decision-making, organization, human relations, and negotiation skills
  • Must have a clean driving record
