Do you have high integrity and strong work ethic? We are seeking aBattery Electric Vehicle Specialist, Mining who will be the key point of contact for both customers and Caterpillar as part of the new product introduction program for the new low emissions Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV). The Battery Electric Vehicle Specialist, Mining will primarily be accountable for establishing programs for account manager training, Technician training, safety programs, performance testing and machine reliability for BEV's.

Key Accountabilities

  • Demonstrate safe, environmentally sound and healthy work behaviours at all times,in support of Toromont's Health and Safety Policies, Programs and initiatives
  • Evaluate the mechanical and operational fleet performance of Caterpillar's BEV's which will be done by travelling to different Mine Sites (Underground and Surface)
  • Ensure effective tracking and reporting of top downtime Drivers and Operator feedback from all BEV's
  • Participate in various studies with Toromont Key Account managers with relations to BEV products
  • Develop and implement strategies including (but not limited to) Technician training programs, high/low voltage safety programs, and battery/component rebuild and repair strategies
  • Working in conjunction with the Mining Inventory Control team; recommend spare parts list for dealer and customer stocking
  • In collaboration with Toromont's Operators and Service Trainers; work on producing customized and Mine specific training programs that focuses solely on the BEV product line
  • Assist with Internal training programs for BEV value proposition as well as Sales strategies that include: energy per cycle tracking and forecasting, cost per tonne modelling, competitive data tracking etc.
  • Partner with Application Specialists and Key Account Managers to deliver productivity studies
  • Ensure all branches that have BEV's follow necessary and accurate NPI reporting
  • In conjunction with the Marketing team; track industry trends and act as the Subject Matter Expert for Caterpillar's BEV features
  • Attend a wide array of industry events to gain knowledge of BEV's in the Mining industry

Key Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary Education with a technical focus and/or 5+ years proven experience in Mining Supervision and a strong knowledge of the Caterpillar Heavy Equipment Product Line. Preference will be given to Degrees in Mining Engineering, Electrical Engineering and/or Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong technical aptitude with a solid knowledge of mining products supported by Toromont Cat
  • Highly safety conscious, results driven and enthusiastic for consistently providing superior customer service
  • Strong planning, analytical skills with the ability to recommend effective solutions
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational skills with high accuracy and attention to detail
  • A self-motivated team player with a strong relationship building capacity and experience working with diverse cross functional groups
  • Preference will be given to bi-lingual candidates (French, English)
  • Ability to prioritize and deliver results in a fast paced environment with aggressive deadlines
  • Willing and able to travel to remote mine sites and work flexible hours in support of business needs
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Applications, especially MS Excel, PowerPoint
  • A valid Driver's License and clean Driver's Abstract
