The Role: Outbye Mechanical Engineer Narrabri (NSW)
An opportunity has become available for a Outbye Mechanical Engineer to join our Narrabri underground coal team

Reporting to the Manager of Mechanical Engineering you will be responsible for assisting with:
  • Ensuring all site mechanical equipment delivers the highest level of safety and performance in compliance with all relevant regulations, codes and standards
  • Ensuring all mechanical project work is performed in a safe and efficient manner across the site
  • Formulating and implementing site mechanical standards, systems and procedures to achieve company objectives
  • Provide technical engineering support and coordination for capital projects, equipment upgrades and major equipment overhaul
  • Drive operational improvement through analysis of plant performance and subsequent maintenance and equipment reliability activities
  • Ensure equipment, engineering standards and technical solutions add value to the business and meet relevant statutory or regulatory requirements
  • Assist in the budget process for operations and capital works
  • Ensuring adequate contingency planning is available to maintain long term business continuity
  • Leading the development of site’s long-term maintenance strategy
  • Coordination of mechanical contracts and contractors and project management


The successful applicant will possess the following qualifications, experience and qualities:

  • A tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering
  • Previous experience managing repair and maintenance of underground coal mining equipment
  • Previous experience with computer managed maintenance systems for underground mining equipment, preferably Pulse
  • Demonstrated leadership in a multi-functional work team environment
  • Demonstrated positive verbal and written communications
  • Demonstrated time management skills
