Electrical Supervisor

Middle Tennessee Mines


To purpose of this role is to provide management and leadership to the electrical maintenance team.    


Safety, Health, Environment and Community

  • Promote awareness and comply with site standards and procedures in SHEC
  • Demonstrate effective performance in achieving agreed SHEC goals in support of the department, site and company standards
  • Promote awareness by reporting and managing all potential hazards
  • Take responsibility for the safety of all personnel, including yourself, at Nyrstar Tennessee Mines
  • Ensure correct use of safety signs and barricades
  • Work to establish safe work procedures
  • Wear proper PPE at all times

Maintenance Strategies

Achieve processing targets by:

  • maintaining effective short and long–term maintenance of electrical equipment
  • assisting in monitoring for effective preventative and breakdown mechanical maintenance procedures
  • Act as Liasion with Maintenance Superintendent and Electrical Planner regarding parts and consumables requirements and plans
  • continually reviewing the most appropriate electrical maintenance methods equipment and plans

Provide progressive Processing operations through:

  • keeping up to date with new developments in techniques and computing for maintenance of electrical equipment
  • assisting in development of new techniques and procedures that will streamline electrical maintenance processes

People and Organization

  • Actively participate in the Asset Management department team to support and promote agreed decisions of the department
  • Support effective discipline, communication and relationships within the team and between teams
  • Consistently apply Workplace Management Procedures to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and visions and values


  • Appropriate trade or related qualification in maintenance of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical equipment or a related discipline
  • 5-10 years experience in industrial electricity , within a mining, construction, or industrial plant environment
  • Troubleshoot and repair backup generator systems
  • Experience in the use of Digital Multimeter
  • Experience in the use of Digital Megger
  • Experience in troubleshooting 3phase electric motor circuit
  • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing lighting circuits
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Mines Regulations


Skills & Abilities

  • Assist operations in process improvements
  • Ability to install cable on surface and underground IAW specs
  • Competent in the installation and maintenance of surface motors, cables and cable trays
  • Ability to carry out stationary checks such as lighting, power meter, and hourly meter readings
  • Ensuring sites are ready for installations
