Our KOTH Open Pit Technical Services team is seeking a Mine Planning Engineer to join us as we transition to an owner-operator model in 2027.

King of the Hills (KOTH) is the flagship operation of Vault Minerals Limited and one of the largest gold mines in Australia. Undergoing significant expansion, KOTH is nearing completion of a 7.5 million tonne per annum (Mtpa) processing plant (previously 5.2Mtpa), providing a solid platform for long-term production growth. This dynamic operation combines open-pit and underground mining, with exciting exploration activities driving the future. KOTH is located approximately 900 km northeast of Perth and 25 km north of Leonora, within the Goldfields Region of Western Australia.

Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, the Mine Planning Engineer is to contribute to the effective operation of the King of the Hills Gold Mine through the design and delivery of open pit production plans, drill and blast plans, interim designs, reporting and reconciliation of production targets

This position will be offered on an 8:6 roster FIFO from Perth

Key responsibilities of this role will include:
  • Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the culture of safety and performance of Vault Minerals Limited are always adhered to.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate safely and maintain and promote safe production.
  • Deliver practical 2-4 weeks plans in line with budget and forecast and all on site principal engineering.
  • Deliver detailed drill and blast designs including drill plans, blast master development, reconciliation plans, drill and blast packs, tie in plans to the Open Pit mining contractor.
  • Develop, maintain and improve site data tracking and reconciliation practices and systems.
  • Undertake engineering project and interim work for operations as required.
  • Provide engineering support to Geologists, Mine Surveyors, short term planners, mine services contractor as required.
  • Assist in developing and updating streamlined reports and reporting systems development.
  • Complete conceptual scenarios for short to medium term as required.
  • Software and planning gap analysis and data analysis as required.
  • Monitor the engineering systems and business processes, identify and prioritise improvement opportunities and formulate alternatives and improvements to systems and methods.
  • Assist with the implementation of site initiatives, continuous improvement and change management

About You
  • Bachelor's degree in mining engineering, or a related field
  • Previous experience within the mining industry.(Experience in scheduling, planning and/or drill and blast highly desirable)
  • A willingness to learn and develop your skills in open pit gold mining
  • A positive, values-driven mindset, with strong communication skills, and a genuine drive for continuous improvement
  • Adaptable to changing environments with a strong commitment to safety
  • Possess strong technical problem-solving skills that enable you to create innovative and sustainable solutions.
  • Proficient in the use and application of MS Office suite and Deswik, Vulcan or Surpac software preferable)
  • WA Driver's License (manual C Class)
