  • The purpose of the role is to lead, develop and manage the performance of the respective South32 Global Business Services (GBS) execution team to ensure timely and accurate execution of mandated activities; with effective delivery of all relevant functional services, in accordance with the Standards, Policies, Standard Operating Procedures and regional legislation, to all South32 customers. Responsible for strategic direction and relationships with business leaders representing GBS.


  • Serious contenders will have Degree in Business/ Commerce/ Finance or related disciplines with a minimum of 10 years relevant professional experience with at least 5 years of managerial experience;
  • Experience within a services department of a large Global organisation is essential;
  • In-depth knowledge of Project Management and Improvement methodologies including process automation;
  • Experience in provision of strategic direction for function is essential;
  • Experience in leading high volume transactional shared services activities, preferably SAP based is advantageous.


  • Development and adherence to the GBS 2-Year Budget and 5-Year Plan objectives, manage costs and ensure performance targets are met through taking shared accountability for delivery thereof;
  • Support the VP GBS by contributing to the formulation of the Global Business Services vision, plan and strategy;
  • Understand and influence the business strategies and goals and assist in translating them into process-driven activities to be executed by the Global Business Services team;
  • Manage GBS costs and budget and ensure performance targets are met and take accountability for delivering against them;
  • Drive initiatives to improve the overall performance of the GBS function by optimising the utilisation of existing processes, practices and systems;
  • Manage Internal Governance, Compliance and Risk management for the GBS Function across all functional areas;
  • External reporting for all services provided by the GBS Function. Management of all projects, improvement initiatives and automation activities within GBS;
  • Represent GBS on South32 integration and separation projects;
  • Build and maintain strong business relationships with all key stakeholders across the Group.
