We are seeking a Health and Safety Specialist to join our Australian Exploration team. Reporting to the Exploration Superintendent, the successful candidate will provide Health and Safety support and ensure the health and safety of all personnel associated with the Exploration Department. The successful candidate will be based out of the Perth office, but will be required to spend a significant amount of time in the field. We therefore require a candidate who is able to work flexible rosters, sometimes with short notice, to align with business needs.

The opportunity includes:
  • Ensuring Exploration Team compliance with the Company's Health, Safety & Environment Management System and Critical Risk Contract Standards across all sites
  • Undertaking internal and external reporting requirements to ensure compliance obligations are fulfilled
  • Contributing to the development of safety management plans and major hazard management plans
  • Developing and maintaining emergency management plans for exploration projects and providing guidance on the site emergency response capability
  • Effectively managing the collection, storage and interpretation of data and records
  • Facilitating incident investigation processes
  • Conducting workplace inspections and organising internal and external system audits
  • Coordinating and developing appropriate safety inductions, policies and procedures to be used for work programs relating to Joint Venture parties; and
  • Identifying and implementing safety improvement initiatives, including contributing to the safety-related skill improvement across the Exploration team.


About you:

  • A Current unencumbered Australian 'C' Class Driver's Licence
  • An Occupational Health and Safety qualification (minimum of Certificate IV)
  • Emergency Management (ERT) Qualification
  • Significant site work experience in a surface mining and/or exploration environment
  • Relevant health and safety experience, with practical understanding of H&S regulatory and legislative requirements, practices and H&S systems and procedures
  • Strong ability to influence, lead and work effectively with diverse groups and preparedness to take a stance on matters of importance.
