St Barbara is an Australian based ASX listed gold producer and explorer. St Barbara's assets include one of Australia's deepest underground mines at its Leonora Operations in Western Australia, the Simberi Operations in Papua New Guinea, and the Atlantic Gold Operations in Nova Scotia, Canada.
Through an internal promotion, our Health, Safety and Environment team have a permanent opportunity for a Health and Safety Advisor. Based at our Leonora Operations and reporting to the Manager, HSE you will provide health and safety support to the Manager relating to implementation and compliance with the Company's Health, Safety, Environment and Community Management System (HSEC MS).

You will be overseeing, advising and influencing our contractor supervisors and employees in health and safety compliance procedures, guiding these contractor relationships to comply and adhere to our St Barbara HSE strategies. You will provide a focal point for health and safety guidance and safety leadership, further enhancing a more positive safety culture in our operations.

This is opportunity is offered on a balanced 4 days on / 3 days off roster. This role may be Fly-in Fly-out from Perth, Drive-in Drive-out from Kalgoorlie or residential in Leonora.

Our Opportunity
  • Facilitating effective compliance with the Company's Health, Safety, Environment and Community Management System (HSEC MS) including Critical Risk Control Standards (CRCS) across Leonora Operations;
  • Providing training to key site stakeholders on the Leonora Operations Contractor Management Procedure including coaching Contract Owners and Contract Services Supervisors;
  • Conducting regular inspections, checks and audits on compliance against the Contractor Management System;
  • Implementing, maintaining and contributing to the continuous improvement of the Leonora Operations Contractor Management Procedure;
  • Supporting the Manager, HSE with Leonora Operations and Corporate requirements;
  • Undertaking, maintaining and contributing to the continuous improvement of HSEC reporting, including report design, extracting appropriate data from InControl, and presenting data in a meaningful way to meet statutory and business reporting objectives;
  • Ensuring HSEC records are managed appropriately, ensuring the identification including identification of any gaps in safety documentation and advising management of required improvements, and developing new safety documents as needed;
  • Ensuring timely and accurate internal and external reporting including ensuring all required entries are made into InControl; and
  • Assisting with the organisation of site internal or external audit of the HSEC MS and the CRCS.

About You
  • Behaviour consistent with St Barbara's Values;
  • Minimum Certificate IV WHS qualification;
  • Demonstrated relevant health and safety experience, with practical understanding of H&S regulatory environments, practices and general H&S systems and procedures;
  • Demonstrated experience in contractor management and client/contractor relationship management; and
  • Strong ability to influence, lead and work effectively with people with a preparedness and ability to take a well-reasoned stance on compliance, safety and matters of importance.
