The Dargues Gold Mine is located near Majors Creek, NSW and is situated around an hour's drive from both Canberra and the South Coast. The Dargues Gold Mine represents the first new gold mine to be approved in NSW since Lake Cowal more than 10 years ago. The project will comprise of underground mine, waste rock emplacement, Processing Plant and Tailings Storage Facility.

We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Health, Safety, Environment and Community (HSEC) Manager who is safety focused, enthusiastic and willing to work as part of a dynamic team. PYBAR Mining Services is the operator of the Dargues Gold Mine, overseeing the entire mining process from scheduling, mine design, excavation and processing. This is a rare opportunity to be a part of a large mining contractor, with resources across Australia, in a newly developing underground hard rock mine.

ABOUT THE ROLE
  • Engage and challenge operational management to achieve a high level of safety performance and appropriate HSEC behaviours;
  • Lead, implement and maintain HSEC initiatives and systems;
  • Develop effective implementation strategies to ensure ongoing project compliance;
  • Promote awareness of HSEC practices and drive a strong family culture;
  • Develop effective relationships to engage a wide range of stakeholders;
  • Establish department budgets & forecasts and monitor performance against these targets;
  • Analyse performance and prepare regular reports on compliance with licenses and approvals; and
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and advice on HSEC matters to operational management.

ABOUT YOU
  • Qualifications in Environmental Science and/or Workplace Safety, or equivalent;
  • Have previous proven experience of at least 5 years' in a similar position, preferably in the mining industry;
  • Have a sound knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, standards and codes of practice in NSW;
  • Demonstrate the ability to investigate, identify and problem solve effectively;
  • Demonstrated achievement in empowering teams to achieve excellence;
  • Have a positive can-do attitude with the ability to adapt and promote change;
  • High level of communication skills and able to build relationships with all levels of the business internally and externally; and
  • Willing to relocate to the Braidwood/Majors Creek area.
