Mining Equipment Technology Specialist

The Greenstone Mine commenced production in May 2024 and will be one of Canada's largest open-pit gold mines, with annual production expected to average nearly 400,000 ounces of gold per year for an initial 14-year mine life with additional potential from a large underground deposit. Greenstone Gold Mines LP is owned by Equinox Gold Corp, a Vancouver-based mining company with four operating mines in Canada, the United States, Mexico and Nicaragua.

Job Summary

Greenstone Mine is seeking a Mining Heavy Equipment Technology Specialist to join our team. Reporting to the Mining Heavy Equipment Technology Supervisor, the Mining Heavy Equipment Technology Specialist is responsible for performing repairs, overhauls, and new technology installs on mining-related equipment. This position focuses on diagnosing and troubleshooting functions on equipment onboard systems for, Mine-Star technology, Motion Metrics, and Tele-remote operation equipment for CAT Fleet, Komatsu Shovels & EPIROC drills.

This position will be on a 14-days-on / 14-days-off rotation, based at the mine site in Geraldton, Ontario.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform installations, preventive maintenance, diagnosing faults & malfunctions on CAT Mine Fleet including, Komatsu Tele-remote Shovels & EPIROC Drills as required.
  • Diagnose faults and malfunctions using computerized or other testing equipment to determine the extent of repairs required including recommendations on extent of damage and repairs required including suggestions for methods on reducing downtime on critical mining equipment technology repairs.
  • Ability to work on Motorola Radio Installations, repairs of mobile/handheld radios considered an asset.
  • Familiar with Motorola Linked Capacity Plus & Capacity Max Repeaters considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Fiber fusing, LC/ST/SC Patch cables, EXFO testing considered an asset.
  • Experience with building LAN network cabling, terminations considered an asset.
  • Ambra LTE or Rajant Mesh network installation, monitoring and troubleshooting considered an asset.
  • Experience with Fortinet Wi- Fi including installation of access point indoor & outdoor considered an asset.
  • Interpret work orders and CAT technical manuals and documentation.
  • Complete job-specific reports and department documentation.
  • Familiar with SAP for daily work order sign offs and notifications considered an asset.
  • Demonstrate a strong awareness of and attitude toward workplace health and safety, while following all applicable rules and legislation.


Required Experience and Skill Set

  • Experience in the repair of Mine Technology equipment and software on Mine heavy equipment.
  • Prior Open Pit experience in an industrial setting is an asset.
  • Experience with CAT, Komatsu Shovels and EPIROC Drills technology equipment & hardware is an asset.
  • FOA Fiber optics certification is considered an asset.
  • Motorola Installations of Mobile/handheld radio including repeaters considered an asset.
  • Experience with Fortinet Wi-Fi is considered an asset.
  • Familiar with Fortinet switches and or Fortinet certification considered and asset.
  • Previous experience working in a remote location is an asset.
  • FOA Fiber Certification considered an asset
  • Fortinet Certification considered an asset
  • Cat 5/6 Lan certification considered an asset
  • Telecommunication certification or red seal considered an asset.
