Job Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Group Manager, Global Vendor Management Office (GVMO) to join our global IT team. This role could be based out of our Milwaukee, WI or our IL - Triangle Plaza Chicago O'Hare office. In this role you will provide leadership and strategic direction for IT Vendor and Contract Management for all Komatsu group companies worldwide.

Key Job Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of the role are to establish and manage principles, guidelines, standards, policy, and support for all aspects of IT global vendor and contract relationships and to also optimize associated IT spend. The position manages the portfolio of global vendors to ensure they also meet service level agreements, end user expectations, customer satisfaction targets and compliance requirements. This role requires significant global IT experience in multiple areas including leadership, procurement and contract management, budget and finance, and outsourcing relationship management.
  • Works closely with global IT vendors to develop contractual models and commercial agreements that will maximize value for Komatsu IT spend and provide for stable and trusted, long term relationships.
  • Optimization of spend and reduction of run-rate expenses and budgeted capital expenditures, plans and develops processes for monitoring and reporting year on year savings.
  • Facilitates and maintains relationships with strategic vendors and Komatsu leadership.
  • Provides insight to global business units and executive leadership on current vendor relationships, including spend, relationship health and vendor performance, as well as providing mitigation options for any vendor-related issues and risks
  • Assesses current vendor portfolio, evaluates technical roadmap to identify future needs, and establishes strategies to optimize the portfolio.
  • Helps lead contract development and negotiation with third party suppliers.
  • Participates in the measuring of vendor performance and shares responsibility for the governance for vendors.
  • Drive a customer service and financial discipline mindset measuring success using goals and metrics.
  • Monitor value metrics to make informed decisions that maximize returns across the Vendor Portfolio of products and services.


  • Demonstrated senior management experience and expertise with at least 10 years of progressive portfolio management experience and minimum of 7 years leading large-scale global IT vendor programs and portfolios.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, IT or a related field
  • Requires deep experience leading global contract analysis and negotiations especially regarding licensing for SAP, Microsoft, Salesforce and other key vendors.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices in contract negotiation
  • Excellent communication skills, listening and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work in a virtual team which may work across distance (remote), cultures and time zones, in a matrix with multiple reporting lines, and may extend outside the organization including suppliers, partners and customers.
  • Experience in vendor pricing methods e.g., rate cards and pricing methodologies
  • Strong communicator who can explain complex technical concepts to both IT management and business stakeholders in a consumable fashion.
  • Ability to lead others to draw conclusions from data and recommend actions.
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment, deliver high quality performance on multiple, simultaneous strategic, value-added tasks and priorities.
