This position works directly with the local Mine Manager and hourly mine employees. Have the opportunity to work additional assignments with the Mine Engineer group.




A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

  • Assist in day-to-day planning of the mining operation.
  • Plan and adjust production needs based on plant schedule.
  • Design and implement the Short-Term Mine.
  • Plan in accordance with the Long-Term Mine Plan adhere to and assist in the enforcement of Georgia-Pacific and Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) safety standards Interface with MSHA and other government regulators.
  • Work with Mine Engineer Manage hourly workforce in accordance to union contract.
  • Track productivity of the operation and analyze using statistical methods.
  • Generate weekly and monthly reports as required Work, plan, and manage maintenance and operation projects.


What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering, Mining, Geoscience, or in a similar field.
  • A minimum college Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale - OR - two (2) or more years of work experience in Engineering, Mining, Geoscience and/or in a similar field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Currently hold, - OR - have the ability to obtain a MSHA Instructor Card.
  • Must be able and willing to work in an industrial manufacturing and mining environment, including extended periods of time outdoors, and in noisy, dusty, non-air conditioned or unheated areas.
  • Must be able and willing to work in elevated and/or confined spaces.
  • Must strictly adhere to safety rules and regulations, including wearing minimal to no jewelry.
  • Effective oral, written and non-verbal communication skills.

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Mining or Geological Engineering, or Geology
  • Experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of mining experience.
  • Working knowledge of mine planning software, such as Minex
  • Experience using AutoCad.
  • Experience using Microsoft Access and Project.

Physical Requirements:
  • Able to work weekends, 40+ hours.
  • W ork in a dusty and dirty environment.
  • work on all weather conditions .
