We are currently looking for a Junior Geophysicist to join our team on a permanent full-time basis. This position will work with our team of recognized industry experts in the field of applied geophysics. This position is expected to work closely with the Geophysics group in all regions as required, and on occasion may be required to provide expertise to our parent company Tetra Tech on some of their challenging international projects. Position would be based in Edmonton, AB.


• Conducting geophysical field assessment and other field activities

• Delivering project assignments on-time and on-budget, consistently exceeding client expectations

• Processing and interpretation of seismic, resistivity, electromagnetic, downhole and GPR data

• Field trouble-shooting and equipment maintenance

• Contributing to Tetra Tech's standards and practices for data management

• Courses towards finishing a Bachelor or Master's Degree in Geophysics from a recognized University

• Aptitude towards working long hours outside and problem solving with technical equipment

• Strong all-round academic knowledge of current geophysical methods, especially in regards to near-surface applicatoins is required

• Experience with computer software and programming languages, including Matlab, Res2DInv, ReflexW, WellCAD, and AutoCAD will be an advantage

• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word and Outlook) is required

• Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)

• Strong people skills and an ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment

• Good time management skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and a team player attitude are essential

• Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License and must provide current drivers abstract when applying

• Must be physically capable of performing the manual labour duties required including: carrying and lifting heavy materials

• Travel will be required in this position, and candidates must be prepared to undertake short field assignments, generally within western Canada, for up to 21 days at a time

• Safety courses in First Aid, using ATVs, WHIMIS, H2S Alive will be an advantage

A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)

To meet the physical demands required of some positions, candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work in all weather conditions. Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing may be required.
