Position summary

Downer's Road Services business unit is one of the largest non-government owned road services businesses in Australia. We operate from a network of over 50 depots and maintain more than 33,000 km of road. Our Business is involved in many exciting ventures within the civil road industry throughout the country.

The NRDL is Downer's flagship laboratory, supporting R&D and consulting to a business that builds and maintains over 33,000km of roads nationally. We pride ourselves as leaders in the industry for innovation, technology and sustainability evidenced by initiatives such as our Recycled Toner modified roads.

We have a long-term career development opportunity for a Quality Co-ordinator to support the R&D and Blended Products QA laboratories. Overall this role will be responsible for the maintenance and improvement of existing quality systems, building and supporting new systems and ensuring compliance.

ABOUT YOU
  • Tertiary Qualification in Science, Engineering or Materials (Background in Pavement Materials or Asphalt favourable)
  • Knowledge and experience in one of the following technology areas is desirable; Bituminous Binders, Bituminous Emulsions, Polymer Technology, Asphalt, Materials, Soils & Stabilisation, Pavement Preservation Materials, Product Design and Formulation.
  • Demonstrable and successful experience working in a Civil Engineering Technology Laboratory environment and quality system, preferably a NATA accredited facility is required
  • Experience in researching and understanding complex information to develop and implement technical solutions
  • A flair for problem-solving and formulating solutions
  • Strong safety focus - actively participate in and support Downer Zero Harm initiatives and strategies
  • Laboratory duties including sampling, sample preparation, testing, training, research, equipment checks, report preparation and maintenance in line with the laboratory quality system
