LOCATION: Expansion Construction site
DEPARTMENT: Pre-Commissioning Group, Expansion Project
ISSUE DATE: February, 2020
REPORTS TO: Pre-Commissioning Manager

DIMENSIONS OF THE POSITION:

  • This is an expatriate engineering/technical position on the Expansion

PURPOSE:

  • This person will provide electrical engineering support/direction to the Pre-Commissioning Mechanical Team, Project
  • The Pre-Commissioning Mechanical Engineer reports to the Pre-Commissioning Manager and will provide technical expertise in Mechanical

JOB DUTIES:

  • Ensure that all activities comply with the Project health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Manage the Mechanical Engineering function of the Pre-Commissioning Team on behalf of the Pre- Commissioning
  • Manage all vendor mechanical checks listed in the OEM’s and identify those that are required during commissioning, ensuring that these tests or test conditions are complied
  • Liaise with the principle Contractor to ensure that all equipment Lubrication Schedules have been adhered to before the commencement of commissioning in that Area, or on specific equipment being commissioned.
  • Manage the Mechanical Team reviews of Construction C0 Test Packs to ensure that equipment is ready for rotational checks and load
  • Manage all bearing Temperature and Vibration Testing Checks and records, required by the Pre- Commissioning Team during C-1 and C-2 activities. Utilize team extracted from the Contractor’s mechanical support team who are tasked to perform these
  • Liaise with the Electrical and Process Engineers to formulate 2 week look ahead schedules for workload, so that the Contractor can provide sufficient support staff for C-1 bearing and gearbox monitoring.
  • Assemble and manage a Contractor Teams Mod squad activities on a day to day basis in order to close out deficiencies, remove and replace guards as required, do motor and shaft alignments and replace and tension belts as
  • Manage the Mechanical Commissioning of the Crushing and Material Handling Systems, Gearbox Driven Drives, Thickener Mechanisms, hydraulic systems, compressor systems and any other mechanical equipment deemed technically challenging. Utilize Electrical and Process personnel to assist you whenever
  • Raise Purchase Orders for any equipment, spares or tools deemed necessary to perform commissioning
  • Raise OS&D’s as needed and action
  • Develop a register to record and track the status of items order by the Mechanical Team
  • Raise Scope of Work and CORF’s in order to mobilize contractors deemed necessary for commissioning assistance or testing, passport and certification of mechanical
  • Manage the collection and delivery of C-1 and C-2 Test Sheets for entry into the Progress Tracking System and filing into PCM Test
  • Read and understand the Pre-Commissioning Framework Plan, which provides details in regards to commissioning
  • Develop and Manage a Master Defects Register for Mechanical items that are recorded on punch lists during pre-commissioning and ensure that these deficiencies are closed out according to their priority status.
  • Develop and manage a tool register to record all tools and equipment being held and under the control of the Mechanical Team. Advise the Pre-Commissioning Manager in writing if there are any tools lost or damaged. Advise your junior engineers to advise you in the same way if they lose or damage any

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Comply with site HS&E Plans and policies.
  • Ensure that the Mechanical Team and any contractors under the Mechanical Team control have completed the Pre-Commissioning Safety Induction and Lock Out / Tag-Out Training prior to commencing
  • Use JHAs and SLAM to monitor work safety and audit task
  • Follow commissioning safety protocols in regards to locking, barricading and using signage to indicate areas or equipment that is either live or being
  • Mentor and support the Mechanical

  • Manage any mechanical works required in both the Process Plant and Infrastructure

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 10 years progressive experience in construction management, with an emphasis on mechanical and piping disciplines.
  • Experience in the construction of mining process
  • Runs mod squads and has practical mechanical
  • University degree in a related
  • Strong working knowledge of construction planning, construction methods, productivity analysis, quality assurance and HSE procedures in mechanical field.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage subordinates and work with other disciplines and
  • Work experience in cold weather region with up to - 40
  • International and/or multicultural
  • Provide mentoring to national
  • Demonstrated skills with the use of specific proprietary software packages relevant to Engineering disciplines.
  • Team Player, results driven, self-motivated and capable of working with minimum direct supervision and adapting to changing
  • Experience working in cold climate
  • Single status only: 6 weeks on Construction site/2 weeks off to point of
  • Work location – Project site in East- Kazakhstan region
  • Vacation entitlement – considered in the roster schedule 6/2.
  • Allowances for 6/2 schedule – roster allowance and travel allowances to cover all flights to/from site at the start and the end of each rotation from Almaty to a point of hire; Accommodation & meals will be provided on
  • Languages: English language
  • Commissioning work is performed on a continuous 7 day per week schedule. Off shift coverage will be coordinated with other members of the pre-commissioning management
  • Accommodations are provided at the project site. Single accommodation with private washroom, internet connection, television, and laundry service will be provided. Shared recreation facilities for KPBV staff are also available on
  • Transportation to/from the project site is provided. Shared transportation is provided on
  • PPE, including outerwear and boots, is
  • Temperatures range from approximately +40 C to -40 C. Wind chill factors are extreme in the winter months.
