Newcrest Mining Limited, a global mining company and Australia’s largest gold producer has recently expanded its footprint into British Columbia as the operator of a Joint Venture company, Newcrest Red Chris Mining Limited. At our Red Chris Mine we are recruiting a Light Vehicle Supervisor. This position is for work at the remote Red Chris mine located 80 km south of Dease Lake, BC, on the traditional territory of the Tahltan. The successful applicant will be required to work and stay in camp during their shift rotation. We offer a number of designated flight marshalling points within BC. The Light Vehicle Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of the Light Vehicle team and equipment. They will be responsible for the coordination, planning, supervision, and if needed participate in the repair and servicing of the Light Vehicle Fleet.
  • Demonstrate absolute commitment and leadership in providing a safe working environment
  • Promote and maintain a culture of ‘safe production’ by compliance with company safety systems, policies, procedures and accountabilities
  • Ensure all incidents, near miss and hazards are reported and recorded in CHESS; are investigated and closed out in a timely manner
  • Maintain focus on continuous improvement for your team, the operations and yourself.
  • Working closely with all departments to coordinate activities
  • Determine priority of work orders and their assignment to personnel; plan, organize and schedule work flow of employees as assigned; advise and assist assigned personnel; assure timely completion of work.
  • Maintain records and reports as necessary.
  • Conduct in-service training programs for employees and contractors.
  • Assist in the selection of new employees; train, supervise and evaluate assigned employees; recommend disciplinary action or promotion as appropriate; review completed work and provide feedback as necessary.
  • Be proficient in the use of SAP, building BOMs, Tasks and Plans.
  • Track equipment hours and maintenance requirements
  • Present equipment status and planning schedules at daily/weekly meetings

  • Supervisory experience with the ability to manage multiple crews and job tasks
  • Minimum of 3 years in a planning experience in a maintenance environment, ideally with a trades background
  • Thorough understanding and experience in maintenance computer systems such as D.B.S, Ellipse or SAP as well as Microsoft Office applications
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to work within tight deadlines and changing priorities
  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent preferred
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision once familiar with requirements
  • A team player that works well with others
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
