Job Overview

Komatsu's Machinists use machine tools, such as lathes and milling machines to produce precision metal parts utilized in all models of Komatsu's mining trucks.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate any and all machines assigned to a machining area.
  • May be required to operate more than one machine at any given time.
  • Will perform washing and deburring of parts as required.
  • May perform appropriate assembly functions within the work area.
  • Operates appropriate heating and chilling equipment to facilitate the assembly process of the hydraulic product.
  • Works from engineering drawings, routings, and procedure sheets.
  • Ability to work effectively with other employees within the work area or team.
  • Responsible for quality of own work.
  • Will work under supervision, which can be minimal at times. Will train other operators as directed.
  • Will be required to use information systems as necessary to perform job duties.


Qualifications/Requirements

  • Three or more years of experience as a Machinist during which the applicant was responsible for the setup and operation of one or more machining centers.
  • Possess the ability to work from technical drawings, routing, and procedures.
  • Able to meet both production requirements and quality requirements for machining work.
  • Will be required to complete a physical commensurate with DOL Medium duty work requirements which includes drug testing.


Additional Information

Machinist --Set up and operate any and all machines assigned to a machining cell/work area. May be required to operate more than one machine at any given time. Will do washing and burring as required. May perform appropriate assembly functions within the cell/work area. Will operate appropriate heating and chilling equipment to facilitate the assembly process of the hydraulic product. Will perform chrome plating as required. May use information systems as necessary to perform job duties. Works from engineering drawings, routings, and procedure sheets. May also work from tool room sketches and vendor prints or sketches. Will work as part of cell/work area team. Responsible for quality of own work. Will work under supervision, which can be minimal at times. Will train other operators as directed.

Qualified candidates must satisfactory complete the TABE AND RAMSEY MECHANICAL tests and will possess:

 A three to five year background of documented experience in the operation of machine tools in the manufacture of large parts.

 Documented experience using blueprints

 Expertise in the operation of CNC operated machines desired.
