Position Summary: Maintenance Planner

Responsibilities Include:
  • Establishing and maintaining communication with the Master Mechanic and Maintenance Supervisors of every shift, in relation to parts that have been ordered, need ordered and any known equipment issues that need addressed
  • Reviewing all permissibility books weekly and reporting any deficiencies to Master Mechanic
  • Maintaining, updating, and providing an equipment asset list and tonnage report monthly
  • Ordering components and parts for both breakdowns and spare units
  • Maintaining a min/max level on critical spare parts independent of the warehousing operations
  • Identifying parts and components via parts manual, in electronic and paper medias as required
  • Staging components and supplies to be sent into the mine for the on-coming shifts
  • Communicating and working with vendors
  • Maintaining knowledge of the latest technological trends and equipment
  • Working with Management personnel, hourly personnel, vendors and MSHA inspectors
  • Perform budgeting and long term planning tasks, if required by the Master Mechanic

Reports To: Master Mechanic
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be knowledgeable of warehousing / inventory control practices
  • Must have strong organizational skills
  • Must be proficient using Word and Excel software programs
  • Must be capable of effectively communicating in oral, written, and electronic forms with individuals at all levels in and outside the organization as appropriate
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Must have excellent time management skills.
  • Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid appropriate conclusions
  • Must be capable of navigating equipment parts books to locate needed components
  • Must be capable of effectively, efficiently and accurately performing duties
  • Must responsibly employ, require and support use of inventory control measures
  • Prior mining experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Must perform in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
