WesTrac is seeking experienced Plant Mechanics to join our growing site-based teams across several mining operations in the Hunter Valley region. These are hands-on, site-embedded roles supporting industry-leading CAT® equipment in high-performing mining environments.

As a Plant Mechanic, you will play a key role in maintaining and maximising equipment availability across large-scale mining operations. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Servicing, maintaining and repairing CAT® mobile plant equipment
  • Conducting inspections and preventative maintenance activities
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting faults to minimise downtime
  • Completing repairs to a high standard while prioritising safety
  • Working collaboratively within high-performing site maintenance teams
  • Utilising advanced diagnostic tools and systems


What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
  • Mobile Plant Trade Qualification (Certificate of Proficiency highly regarded)
  • Heavy Vehicle Trade Qualification will also be considered
  • Experience working in mining, heavy equipment or similar environments - essential
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capabilities
  • A commitment to safety and quality workmanship
  • Ability to work effectively in a site-based team environment


The following are desirable but not essential:
  • Working at Heights
  • MDG25 certification
  • Current mining inductions
