The location of this role is the Hermosa Project site near Patagonia, Arizona.

The Role:

This role isaccountable to deliver the project controls and contract administration strategies for the Hermosa Project. Lead managers and respective teams in development of systems that reviews, monitors, analyses, and forecasts project progress, coordinating work of units, departments, and functional areas. Reviews and endorses contingency plans to address project deficiencies, resource or systems issues, and process improvement opportunities. Lead managers and respective teams in development and support of procurement and contract management activities relevant to the Hermosa project. Deliver PMP plans, processes and systems to provide governance, control and support in relation to cost control, schedules, supply chain processes, contract negotiations, contract management, and contractor and vendor performance. Supervises technical and professional staff including EPCM/EPC staff during FS and execution.

Accountabilities:

  • Develops and leads teams to deliver accurate project cost, productivity, resources, schedule, contract administration and/or system capability analyses, auditing, and forecasting to ensure project milestones goals are met.
  • Alerts peer group and senior management of potential cost, schedule, coordination, or other issues sufficiently ahead of time to affect the outcome
  • Directs, coordinates, and monitors efforts with project delivery personnel, EPCM companies and personnel, estimators, vendors, general contractors, project procurement and contracts, and project leadership to manage resources to meet project deliverables and schedule.
  • Monitors and maintains project delivery strategies and plans to achieve budget, schedule, quality, contract administration and delivery objectives; coordinates team efforts and allocation of resources.
  • Oversees project controls and contract administration and procurement systems and software capabilities and optimization.
  • Facilitates and directs the execution analyses of statistical and financial reports, databases, queries, and applications.
  • Monitors and evaluates project feasibility, timing, deliverables, and deficiencies to address and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Reports project status to senior project leadership.
  • Builds and provides an environment for dynamic project communication between the project control manager, project contracts manager and project construction director, engineering manager, area managers, superintendents, engineers, supervisors, and other management to ensure work is accomplished in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
  • Establishes upholds purchasing policies and procedures and directs purchasing programs accordingly.
  • Manages project contract administration and procurement until Manager role is filled
  • Maintains competitive pricing with an emphasis on cost reductions, quality, and supplier performance through competitive bid events, price negotiations, cost modelling, or other sourcing techniques.
  • Monitors and reviews bids and proposals for conformity to contract requirements and determines acceptable bids.
  • Monitors and reviews requisitions, interviews vendors, and negotiates terms and conditions of contracts.
  • Monitors and reviews supplier performance issues and works with multiple parties to resolve issues.
  • Ensures compliance with environmental and governmental policies and regulations.
  • Recommends changes to new or existing corporate policies and procedures regarding project development and delivery
  • Develops, gains endorsement and implements the S32 North American blue print plans, processes, and systems for project delivery regarding project controls and project contract administration and procurement.
  • Complies with, understands, and supports corporate and project safety, health and environmental initiatives to ensure a safe and responsible work environment.

  • Assigns, schedules, reviews, and evaluates work of others
  • Establishes, monitors, and enforces quality standards

Qualifications, Skills, and Expertise:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management or related field
  • Certifications in Project Management disciplines preferred
  • Knowledge of project management, cost modelling, statistical data analysis, and forecasting
  • Understanding of systems and process analysis, forecasting, and improvement
  • Knowledge of supply chain and contract administration practices such as cost modelling, total cost of ownership, and bid analysis
  • Knowledge of principles of leadership and ability to lead people in challenging projects
  • Ability to work at the strategic level and in a complex project setting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and expert in Microsoft Excel
  • Proficient in PRISM or other cost control software, MS Project, Primavera P6, relational databases, Aconex, Visio, InEight, and web-based collaboration tools
  • Effective in obtaining consensus concerning the intent of Project Controls and its' interface with other corporate functions
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, including tradespeople to senior management
  • Relationship building skills: demonstrated empathy, emotional intelligence and cross-cultural effectiveness with the ability to achieve consensus and build alignment cooperatively
  • Maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct
  • Strong English language written and oral communication skills
  • Minimum of 10 years in developing $100MM plus projects
  • Experience in delivering major projects through the entire project lifecycle from studies to handover and close out.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years leading cost control, scheduling, and contract negotiation and administration efforts
  • Maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct
  • Demonstrable experience in Project Controls systems implementation including interfacing with Accounting, Finance, Project Execution, and other corporate non-project-related/indirect functions
  • Management of EPCM/EPC and owners project-controls and contract administration teams, at a minimum including cost, scheduling, planning, and contract administration functions.
  • Experience negotiating and managing contracts and vendors' activities
  • Must have a valid driver's license
