Ensure Kiewit Corporate Environmental Policies and Procedures are implemented and followed at the mine.
Coordinate and oversee environmental operations to ensure regulatory compliance with Federal, State, and Local agencies.
Manage the day-to-day and long-term environmental compliance and permitting responsibilities as well as record management and compliance software database.
Supervise preparation and submittal of compliance reports to regulatory agencies, auditors, Owner, and others.
Interact and negotiate with regulatory agencies on environmental permits, compliance inspections, and mine permit renewals/revisions.
Oversee waste stream management and disposal programs.
Maintain and update STEERS database for Annual Waste Surveys and Tier II submittals.
Perform regular site inspections for environment compliance.
Stay updated with new developments in environmental policies and regulations.
Assess potential environmental risks and develop mitigation plans.
Train employees on environmental regulations and stay abreast of law and regulation changes.
Communicate and collaborate with Company personnel to clearly understand environmental aspects of mining and operation of the project.
Coordinate permitting, reclamation and bonding, waste management, water management, hazardous materials, wildlife, protection of natural resources, and public education efforts.
Manage outside consultants and contractors working on environmental permitting and construction projects.
Develop and advance long-term permitting strategy.
Maintain working relationship with regulators, industry working groups and non-governmental agencies.
Identify areas of improvements to reduce environmental damages and wastes.

Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience plus five years' experience related to environmental, soils, range management or similar. Previous surface mining experience is highly desirable.
Strong technical knowledge of environmental regulations.
Previous permitting experience with Railroad Commission of Texas, Surface Mining Division is preferred.
Experience setting up training programs.
Advanced MS Office skills.

Working Conditions
Fast-paced mine and mine office environment; must be able to interact professionally with all levels of management while simultaneously manage a diversified workload and challenging situations efficiently and effectively. Work outdoors in ambient conditions. Walk in uneven terrain in a surface mining environment.
